I rented an apartment from Riverstone and gave them a $200 deposit. I had to sign a 52 page rental agreement. They wanted it done on line. I rented the apartment for $910.00 and had a 9 month lease. I always paid on time. I wanted to break my lease after 7 month and they charged me $1320.00 do do that. I also had to pay a $910.00 last month with a 30 day notice.
I went in the office in Sherwood and asked about my deposit. The girl named Shelly told me I would get the deposit back if I left the apt clean and in good order. I asked about cleaning the rugs. She told me to make sure I got an invoice from the rug cleaner. I did that. When I took the invoice in to the office, Josh Preston told me that they would not reimburse me because they had to use thier carpet cleaner who was licensed and bonded. My carpet cleaner was also licensed and bonded.
After moving out I got a letter from Josh charging me an additional $364.45 for bogus charges. He said they had to replace the carpet because of pet damage. I do not own a dog. They had to paint which was done when I moved in. They charged for paint rollers, spackel etc, etc,. They carpets were beautiful when I moved out. They said in the letter I had to pay the $364.45 in 30 days or they would take me to a collection agency. What a bunch of crap.
I ended up paying $8,383.45 for a one bedroom apt for 7 months. This company and it's employees are rip offs. DO NOT RENT FROM RIVERSTONE PROPERTIES.
