My Baby Lock serger was no longer under warranty and rather than take it back to where it was purchased which is a great distance from my home I decided to find a locale repair shop. I contacted Rivercrest Sewing Center in Crestwood, IL asked if they serviced Baby Lock's they said yes. I took my serger in and explained the issue and they said they would check it out and get back to me. A couple days later I was contacted and told they could not fix it and it was recommended that I take it back to the shop in Bensenville, IL where it was purchased. I picked it up and took it to the shop in Bensenville, IL. When I dropped the machine off in Bensenville, IL I noticed oil on the plate near the needle I wiped it off and didn't think much about it until the repairman at the Bensenville shop contacted me and stated that there was a pool of oil in the machine. The repairman in Bensenville was able to fix the machine but because of the oil it had to be thoroughly cleaned at a cost of $120.
I contacted Rivercrest they said they did not oil the machine. The machine went from my house to Rivercrest and then to Bensenville. If there is one thing you learn when you purchase a Baby Lock serger is that you do not oil it. Someone at the Rivercrest Sewing Center in Crestwood, IL oiled my Baby Lock serger and I hope their mistake does not cause issues in the future. I will not be going to this shop again for anything nor would I recommend it.
