Just one more victim of RPMR and Trish, who didn't think to Google reviews ahead of time. $300 puppy, $200 supplies, untold heartache, for a puppy who was purported to be a mastiff, turned out to be a 20lb terrier. Covered in feces, riddled with whipworms, with falsified vet paperwork. This person is scum. She was very quick to threaten to sue if I did not return the pup to her. Screw that, he's healthy and in a safe home now. It never occurred to me a person could be so callous as to abuse and use dogs for profit while posing as a charitable organization. My new mission in life is to write enough reviews, file enough reports, to see this woman go to jail. In talking to paws, humane society, this is apparently very, very common. Please be careful if you rescue, check out the organizations reputation and facilities thoroughly. Funding these "rescues" hurts homeless dogs more, bottom line.
Please contact me if you need information from me, I'm Willing to help in anyway I can. My email: [email protected].... i want this horrible person out of business and in jail.... I will dedicate as much time needed to bring her down.
I emailed RPMR when my husband and I were ready to adopt a dog. I had a weird feeling from the begininng because the emails from RPMR were very unprofessional. I inquired about a Great Dane, and she replied back that I wasn't a good fit for a Great Dane but instead I was a good fit for a Beauceron they had. This struck me as odd, since she didn't have me fill out any paper work and hadn't asked any questions about us. It was foolish of me to trust her just because it was a "rescue". My husband and I drove to meet the dog, and it was close to 100 degrees that day. The house was just falling apart and had dog crates lined up around the outside of it, filled with dogs out in the heat. She brought the dog over and I started asking about him. She told me that she got him from a drug dealer in Seattle. Then as she was telling me that the dog was good with everyone, including cats, and toddlers, it lunged and bit my husband's hand with absolutely no warning. My husband had not even reached out to pet him, and his arms were hanging by his side. I told her that I didn't feel comfortable taking him being a 1st time dog owner. She told us to just take him home no-charge. She recommended keeping him in a kennel for a month until he was so starved for attention he would bond with us. The whole experience was very unnerving. In hindsight, I should have reported the bite, god knows if that dog had any shots at all. I can't believe I almost brought that dog into my house, and it's terrifying to think she would encourage someone to take him that has children. He could have killed my cats, or me, or jumped the fence and bitten a child walking to school. Normally a dog will bark or growl, and put their ears down as a warning. This dog gave no warning, which means it was abused and learned that the warning was useless. It was such a bad experience, we haven't adopted a dog. I frequently look on Petfinder to see what is available in Yakima, and she has a constant rotation, and in all the photos the dogs look sick or scared. I do hope she is put out of business. I also feel horrible for anyone that surrenders a beloved pet to her thinking that she's going to take good care of it.
After my husband brought a dog home from this rescue, I had a ton of issues getting information from them such as vet records, legit immunization records and microchip information. After reading reviews online from other people, it seemed as though these practices are all too common with this "rescue". It turns out that the "healthy dog, who has a microchip, who loves kids, is good with other dogs, and most likely ok with cats", actually tested positive for giardia, was NOT microchipped, on two desperate occasions has lunged at small kids while on leash, is highly dog aggressive (especially small dogs) and has attacked a cat.
I guess it makes sense that they told my husband not to worry about changing the microchip information because they would take care of it and then would never respond to my emails asking for the microchip company and chip number. They are completely unethical and untrustworthy! They flip dogs and don't care about their health or temperament. Please, before you consider adopting from this "rescue", do your research and read the reviews. There are other very reputable Mastiff rescues in the area who have a very in depth and thorough adoption process, to include doing temperament testing before adopting out. Learn from others mistakes and DO NOT support the continued dog flipping for profit operation that this rescue is running, both for the dogs sakes as well as the safety of the families who are adopting.
I adopted a South African Mastiff on Monday, September 3, 2012 from Rising Phoenix Mastiff Rescue. I was told that he was 3-5 years old. When we met him, we had to go to a shut down restaraunt parking lot instead of the ""rescue"" itself. Fergie, the dog we adpoted, was limping. I asked the man who brought him why, and he said that is just how he walks. His eye was weeping as well and he told me that it was allergies to the fires in the area. We could see that his teeth were not in the best shape but werent too concerned.
We could see he was a sweet boy and decided to bring him home. When we got home, his eye continued weeping and we could see that he was having trouble walking. We found that he had earmites and his ears were FULL of dirt and other debris. His paws are in horrible shape, including alomst all his nails being broken, rough and cracked paws. After 3 days of having him home, his paw is huge and swollen and full of infection. We contacted the ""rescue"" and they refused to help.
We checked on his microchip and he is not 3-5 years old. He is 8 years old. We contacted them about this and they said they didnt know. They have had him since at least December of 2011. We were able to find that information within 10 minutes of knowing his microchip number. She wouldnt send the number to me. I had to take him to our vet to be scanned to get it. All of the health issues he has are due to neglect.
Tricia, the owner of this place, emailed me and told me that he was well taken care of and that he was healthy when we adopted him. She sent me a nasty email after I sent her my complaints and told me to try rescuing if I think it is so easy. She insulted me and told me she feels sorry for Fergie because all I do is complain. We are now having to have our dog sedated and his paw treated because he can hardly walk. He is in so much pain and sick.
He will need antibiotics for his foot along with treatment for his ears and all his other paws. He is also covered in scars from bites from other dogs and has ovbiously been hit before, since when we raise our hands, he flinches. Please, go to ZooToo, BBB, other reports on this website and google them before deciding to adopt from them. I have been contacted by multiple other people who are filing reports and possible lawsuits against this woman and her so called ""rescue"".
She told everyone the puppies were mastiff mixed with doberman. Told us the entire story of how the dog accidently got pregnant with the mastiff. She described the parents to me, their weights, colors.
I did the DNA test on our puppy, it's 50/50 pit bull and doberman. As you know, pit bull is a harder to sell breed.
I confronted her about this, and she threatened to take the dog back and put a restraining order against me if I contacted her.
The owner/operator of RPMR (Rising Phoenix Mastiff Rescue), located in Yakima, Washington, LaTricia Porter (Tricia, Trisha) IS NOT LICENSED and is currently under investigation thru Yakima animal control for operating a non-profit dog rescue without being licensed, they have received hundreds of complaints from both the United States and Canada, for selling sick, emaciated dogs, dogs that have not been spayed or neutered or brought up to date on their shots, untrained and aggressive dogs. For 'flipping' dogs, for housing them in small, filthy kennels, for lying and for theft, and giving buyers falsified vet papers with names of vets who do not exist. There's also a question about falsifying income tax returns.
What does she do, has she done with the dogs she cannot sell or 'place'? They just seem to disappear! They are trying to find out where she has put over 20 large dogs - the ones she has up for adoption right now on several web sites, including Petfinder.
com - they cannot be found on her property, and no one knows what she's done with them. Apparently, she'd been doing the same thing in California and had to leave because of investigation.
