I worked for Richard for less than a week. He let me go after just five days because he said he was overpaying me for doing little to no work. He was paying $11 an hour to do whatever he needed to be done outside including maintenence of not only his property, but of his tenants properties as well. he would have me run long errands, even driving to Maryland just to exchange and return car parts for his personal vehicle. I had no problem with him not paying me, but probably because I only worked for 5 days, and he did pay me money for gas I used.
Although Richard comes off as a nice guy at first who is friendly, that changes real quick. Within two days he was attitudal and condescending towards me and my girlfriend who also worked for him. He never tells you what to do and expects you to know what he wants next. He has a serious case of ADHD and is never specific with directions. I had to run and find him after every little task I finished because he would never tell me what to do. When he "let me go" he told me I would hide from him and that I hardly did any work. The truth of the matter is that he would be the one hiding in his house while I was looking for him and since his employees aren't allowed in the main house and only in the office around back, I would wait sometimes 15-20 minutes for him to return before I could yet again ask him what he wants me to do.
The worst experience I had in the short time I was there was having to clean out a tenants house in Marshall who had trashed the place and left bags of trash piled in the kitchen and everywhere else. There was hay in the basement from where they raised chickens, that's right, they raised chickens in the basement and I had to clean it up. He told me to take all the trash out and not to worry about cleaning it and as I took the trash out in the morning, he had a "potential renter" come by in the afternoon and look at the house. The house hadn't been cleaned at all and ants, rat feces, and liquid oozing from the trash bags that were there before were still there as I was told not to worry about cleaning it up.
Overall, I would highly advise you not to work for Richard Colandrea. He is a terrible boss and is not specific or direct with orders given which is the least of your worries with him. As I've read he doesn't pay, so I'm cashing my check from today ASAP and looking for a new, and much better job. Please read this before you work for him. It will save you time, money, and lots of frustration.

You can search craigslist listings for the phone number 540-687-5500, or 540-687-5100, or 540-687-5000. They are all numbers for the same person. Their address is 103 Walnut Street, Middleburg, Virginia 20117. I was hired to be a "caretaker" in their home, which was to include room and board, and did not receive a single meal. I was expected to be on call (and working) literally around the clock. They are hoarders and I was forced to stay in a tiny room crammed with furniture which was itself crammed with every type of linen imagineable. There was no place to put my own belongings. Later, I moved into an office assistant only position working for the son and was given a room next door, at 107 Walnut Street, Middleburg, Virginia 20117. Part of the compensation was the room, plus $275 a week. I was paid once, because I pressed after two weeks of not being paid, and after being paid, received not a single other penny despite the fact that he (even this past weekend) was calling me up expecting me to show the house for him and do other work. He also "changed his mind" and decided, after naming three different rental rates, to charge me $750 a month for a single room in a house he's turned into another hoarder's paradise, AND NOT PAY ME! How was I to even pay this rent, which was at no time agreed upon. We are in an evictions proceeding, but there was sexual harassment; as others on here have mentioned, he works in his underwear and frequently pisses himself and leaves the garments in a dirty heap in his office, smelling up the entire place. They should be on the TV show "Hoarders." It is that bad.
He has stolen from me and there are now pending charges because I was able to photograph what he'd stolen from me from the street, over the top of his fence. His mother is just as bad. They are outrageously crazy, hated in the neighborhood, and since I started working (in late February) have fired at least 15 employees that I know of. Many of whom were not paid for their work before giving up after the abusive, inappropriate manner in which they were treated. His own mother stole sewing supplies from me when I moved from the "big" house to the one next door. Their home is so full of crap, it is literally to the ceilings and is a serious fire hazard. People have come and gone so fast I don't bother learning names now. Despite being told not to enter the home I'm in now without proper landlord warning, he has continued to do so. He harasses, cusses out, screams at, and otherwise abuses the other tenant (who was a paying tenant) and will come over as early as 730 am and stand in the hallway, banging on our doors, screaming at the top of his lungs, using the most foul language possible, and the police have advised they'll arrest him the next time it happens. He has illegally turned off the water and electricity three times, despite police and judge warnings that he cannot do that. This guy is totally crazy and so is his mother and it would do you well to stay very far away from these people. They are listing a lot of high end items on craigslist - just search using the above numbers.
Whatever you do, do not rent one of his many properties he has listed (check the number, he is careful now to try and hide who he is so that these kinds of checks cannot be run in advance). There are many, many complaints about him, his mother, their "leasing" company which goes by Ridgeview, Ridgeview Manor, Ridgeview5000, and the "nursing home" they ran, called Bryant Woods Inn, in Columbia, MD. Richard has a bag full of the previous patients' drugs in his office which he takes frequently (yes, I have witnessed this personally) and the police are investigating this as well. This is the kind of crazy no one needs in their lives. Be careful.

He is consistently hiring on local internet site like craigslist for numerous laborers and has been for over a months and a half. I know when he hired me, he had hired three individuals. During my time, he lost three people because he was verbally abusive. I quite my first week because he was verbally abusive and a bully. He refuses to pay his help. He cannot keep help. I am presently filing a lien against him for none payment for services rendered.
DO NOT WORK FOR THIS GUY. HE LIVES AT 103 WALNUT ST IN MIDDLEBURG VA.
