A recumbent bike and treadmill have been safely and regularly in daily use at SCOR prior to 2001 when I joined. They were removed from their assigned space on September 3, 2014 without notifying dues paying members who regularly use and depend on this equipment for exercise. The reason given was a "sudden" lack of insurance coverage in the event of a fall (the bicycle seat is three inches from the floor). If the insurance issue is accurate then all current exercise classes should immediately be cancelled. The classes are much more dangerous as there are no handrails or grab bars within participants reach.
Adding insult to injury a large soda pop machine immediately replaced this vital exercise equipment. The Pepsi Company gave an effective sales pitch! An arbitrary decision has been made by the SCOR Director, Judy Doran and/or Joe Brown, Director of Reynoldsburg Parks & Recreation Department to permanently remove our exercise equipment without considering another location in the SCOR building.
Space for exercise equipment is available at SCOR if only Doran and Brown would exercise a small amount of creativity and an hour of their time to find it. Yesterday, I learned the tread mill has been give away! I was "given" the bike! At this writing it remains at SCOR in the hope that a space will be found so that I and others may continue to exercise.
