On August 16, 2014, Revolution Moving & Storage came out to our prior residence at 10 am to disassemble our large furniture and load it onto our Uhaul truck. They were told in advance that they were only hired to remove the heavy items (consisting of our kitchen table, buffet table, master bedroom set, daughters crib and dressers and son's bunkbed and dresser) and that we had our own supplies.
We had no intention of paying for supplies, because we furnished our own tape and mattress pads. My wife and I were asked over 1/2 a dozen times if they could use other materials, even though my wife kept deferring the owner (John) to me. He wasted time trying to upsell us for supplies, rather than monitoring his crew. Our original quote of $225, changed to an actual charge of $370 (including their supplies). We also observed smaller boxes being moved ahead of the larger items we hired them to move!
John advised us before the move, that the furniture and their parts would be kept together.
After they left, we found screws and wooden parts on our bedroom floors. When we arrived to our new home, our 2nd moving crew advised us that it was obvious parts were missing. I called John immediately and his only advice was to check our previous home for the missing parts. Due to the missing screws, the movers were unable to reassemble my daughters crib, our son's bunk bed, or reattach our mirror to our dresser. Nothing was left on the premises other than what we originally collected, but we have since found screws in the dresser drawers (of the master bedroom furniture) and in the grooves of the crib (loosened but not placed with the others). Parts are still missing.
These errors could have easily been prevented. We contacted John and requested a full refund. To date, he has apologized, but verbally declined to refund the cost of our move. Our damages now include the cost of wasted labor($92.50), a crib ($250), a bed ($160), and the cost for parts to reattach our dresser mirror (waiting on estimate). He initially said he could find someone to come out to do an inventory of our parts to replace them, and provide the labor to assemble the furniture. He said that he would call me back the same day and I never heard from him.
We have requested in writing that the company refund the $280 they were paid in person on the day of the move and not to submit any additional charges to my credit card. If they submit additional charges against our request, the full refund amount will change to $370. I am filing this complaint to prevent this from happening to any other family.
9-22-14 My wife and I just left a $75.00 deposit for the labor of our move on Oct 18 2014. Sorry about your situation, but l'm thankful for your comments and now I know what to look out for when our things are moved.
