Results Unlimited Inc, a "collections agency", began a wage garnishment on my paycheck with NO notice at all. Then, they froze by bank account as well! I am not even sure if that is legal... but they did it. My debt was to an apartment complex and the debt was over a decade old!
Well, I paid them in full, $1,338.22, yet my paycheck continued to be garnished, I contacted them and whomever I spoke with claimd she was the manager and I could not speak with anyone above her-- you see, I was calling to inform them that they were "double whammying" me, still garnishing me even though I paid them the full debt (which is pretty crazy to owe an apartment complex that much money when there were NO damages to the apartment and I let the apartment company keep my deposit just in case, I was forced to pack up and leave almost overnigt due to my father being on his death bed states away, and because I wasn't there for the final walkthrough of the apartment, they obviously hit me for every charge they possibly could in "damages".)
Well, the Results Unlimited debt collection "manager" said that since I had paid my debt in full that she would send a fax to my federal payroll company to have the garnishment stopped and the almost 700 dollars they had taken in garnishments sent back to me. She promised she would complete BOTH tasks. The garnishment did stop, but here I sit almost 6 months later still waiting on my $700. So, I called Results Unlimited Inc today, and somehow without even telling the operater any of my information I was put on the line with the same woman who claimed I could talk to no one that was her senior in the "company".
I told her the issue, and she said verbatim, "I have done my part, you figure out how to get your money yourself" in a very hateful tone. Now, when I owed them money they acted as if the whole world was going to go up in flames if they didn't get every penny immediately, but when the shoe is on the other foot, she would not even send a form, email or fax to my payroll company any type of documentation(which is what my payroll director said that is what she needed) stating that my money that was garnished could be released back to me being that I paid RUI in full months ago!
Now, it would have taken this "woman/head in charge" less than two minutes to type up and email or send a signed fax, but NO, she said she did her part!!!
Now, I have no idea what I am going to do, I do remember their lawyer's name (Chad Rennard), but I was advised by the woman who does my payroll to contact the court that they were going through; however, on the BBB website, I read a complaint on Results Unlimited Inc. (that was eerily similiar to my issue), and in this man's case, the court that they went through said they had no idea who Results Unlimited Inc was/is!!! Their name, along with their attorney's name are on my court papers, so I am hoping and praying that I do not have the same problem as that gentleman did.
Bottom line: Results Unlimited Inc is most definitely a shady "business/company", they are not registered with the Better Business Bureau, and I understand that collection companys are not widely liked, but I have dealt with reputable collection agencies and Results Unlimited Inc. is not one of them. They are a fly by night company. Be very cautious if you are ever contacted by them for any past debts, it seems they deal with apartment complexes only from what I have read--and, if you are ever contacted by them--get an attorney IMMEDIATELY. Looking back, that is exactly what I should have done.
