February of 2014 I called Reliable to fix a leaking water line to my ice maker. My wife and I scheduled an appointment for the next day. Your technician never showed up. He claimed he did show up, we were home all day for the appointment and nobody showed up or called me. My wife and I called numerous times that day to find out where the repair person was. Finally, we got a call back. The repair guy stated that he knocked and no one answered. We heard a loud party with music and kids screaming in the background as we spoke to him via cell phone. Apparently, the repair guy was at a party and stated he was a work. My wife confronted the repair guy on the phone. He kept denying he was at a party and swore he knocked on our door. My wife and I have a limited free time. We waited all day for a repairman that didn’t show up as he was at a party. Nobody came to repair our appliance that day.
I called and complained and an appointment was made for the following day. The technician showed up and spliced the line with a coupler. I paid $100 dollars by check for this repair. Within hours the leak was back. I called back and an appointment was made for the next day.
Again a technician replaced the coupling. I requested that he replace the whole line. The tech stated that it was not necessary. Again, within hours the leak was back. After 3 appointments, the repair was not completed satisfactorily.
I called and stated I was done with Reliable servicing this problem. I talked to a supervisor and we mutually agreed that the repair was not adequate and we would go separate ways. I stated that I didn’t think I should have had to pay for the repair since it was not done to any measure of satisfaction. It was agreed that Reliable would not cash my check. Just to be sure, I put a stop payment on the check.
A few days ago I got a certified letter from a debt collector. Without any attempt to contact me regarding this matter, and against our agreement, you submitted this to collections.
This is completely unacceptable. I have called Reliable and spoken to a supervisor and they stated there is nothing you can do for me. I think this is a despicable business practice.
I ask that you rescind this collection attempt immediately.
