I answered an ad in Craigslist offering online work doing consumer market research. I was told I needed a bank debit card and a paypal account. I was then told there were over $600 of survey fees to be paid out and this would be the first many fees. My first assignment was to do a survey on the prepaid legal service call LegalShield.

Specifically I had to agree to the following:

1 - I am interested in participating in the membership study

2 - I understand that I will be provided with $89.85 PRIOR to participation

3 - I understand that I will need to use a valid debit or credit card to purchase the products needed for the research study and the $89.85 sent to me is prepayment for those costs.

4 - I understand that once I accept the $89.85 in funds, I am entering into an agreement to follow through and complete the study. If I choose not to complete the study I will immediately return the $89.85 back to the sender and will not be included in subsequent groups. Failure to return paypal funds is an act of fraud and will be pursued by Reactive Marketing Corporation using all legal remedies.

5 - My Paypal ID for accepting payments is:

The next thing that happened was a $49.85 deposit was made into my paypal account, not the $89.85. It was never explained why. Then I was told to join Legalshield and view several videos about it and write my impressions of the service. The cost of joining LegalShield was the exact same amount as the amount deposited in my paypal account. After writing about the videos an additional $15.00 was deposited as a "Payment".

That was part of a total of $40 I was supposed to be paid. The last half would be for reviewing the written material that was on the way via regular mail. This is when everything got supicious. Eric Lokke was my contact and he suddenly became hard to get a hold of.

The deal was to complete the second half of the survey and then the legalshield service would be canceled, but he delayed and delayed and finally I was able to send the second half of the survey. I asked about canceling the service and he said to send him my membership number and he would take care of it personally.

Just a couple days ago I got a $39.85 item on my bank account. The membership fee that was supposed to be canceled, and have found out Legalshield, while acting like they don't know what's going on, have a policy of wanting their cancelation in writing, obvious a delay tactic,

I believe this is probably an affiliate scam where a sham market research company like the one Eric Lokke runs, makes commissions on new memberships with funky outfits like Legalshield, and route unsuspecting people like me into joining while thinking they are conducting surveys, and hoping some of the memberships stick.

I answered to a Craigslist advertisement for a position that claimed to pay an hourly pay and commission. The job was related to selling Legal Shield legal services. I received an e-mail indicating that I was being considered for the position and was directed to take an assessment test. The e-mail also said that I needed to pay $95 to get the process going if I am selected for the position.

The next morning I received a detailed e-mail indicating that I had been selected for the position and I was given until that afternoon to accept and send them my social security number as well as the $95. I did some researh and found out from The Rippoff Report that there was a complaint about the company and the possibility of being a scam. I answered the e-mail and requested to speak with someone representing the company. I never heard back from them again. Now I have no doubt that they are a scam! I hope that other applicant don't get cheated by this scam artists.

I was scammed as well

Well planned scam. Watch out. They really convince you in the beginning by providing SEVERAL training links and keeping in touch. Then, magically, the training will be "stalled" for electronic issues and in the meantime, your credit card has already been charged $95 at the beginning of "training" and is in danger of being charged again. I am very upset by the hours and energy I wasted in "training" for this.
