In May 2009, I was approached by Raymond J. Montes the CEO of Aircraft Aquisition and Financing Inc. a company showing 3 offices in the US. St. Peterberg, Florida, Victorville, California and Carson City, Nevada.
After being contacted for months about a prospective deal for 747-400, Ray Montes now says he is purchasing a fleet of 737-300 and 737-500 aircraft from United Airlines. These aircraft would be retired and we could remarket them to startups and existing carriers outside the US in either a Dry Lease or out-right-purchase.
Once, I agreed then the data on the planes rolled in big time. I received all the tecnical details, maintenance status, etc... Then he asked me to join the team in the US.
He prepared an advance and return airline ticket to LAX. I was met at LAX by the team and we proceeded to Victorville where I inspected 30+ planes. I was really excited to have an opportunity market so many planes.
I settled in and prepared multiple proposals while I was constantly informed the aircraft were in negotations and thet it was going to be completed at any time. Just try to find some buyers and lessee to help kick strat the project.
After a few weeks, I had several serious clients ready to take multiple aircraft for their operations.
Ray Montes continued the United 737-300 and 737-500 were being purchased by his company AAF. Ray Montes showed me letter, agreements, intent and other suupporting data that he was indeed going to buy all the United planes.
I finalize 4 lease agreements for a client to start operation in Oct. Ray montes demanded the client place a Security Deposit of 2 months renatl for each plane in his company account.
I was used to Escrow holding funds until the plane was ready for delivery. Ray Montes then did what he is great at is throwing a fit. he expoloded and went crazy. Ray Monets said that the deal depended on the deposits being made at this time so the banks will finalize the entire purchase.
I then informed the client about the deposits. They were not happy nor was I about moving the funds before the planes were secured from United.
Well Ray Montes got his wish. The client decided to move the funds from Escrow to AAF bank.
After receipt of the funds Ray Montes went on a shopping spree. he probably spent over half the money in two weeks.
I was not there to enjoy all this fun Ray Monets was having, but I saw the results. He told me he had sold some engine stands and had the extra money.
After a month the shopping died down, but he continued to push for more deposits.
Then the client demamed delivery of the planes and was informed by United not AAF that the deal for the purchase had been suspended because Ray Montes of AAF failed to make the initail deposits and had gone silent.
Now the client and I were working to get the funds returned. He told me the funds would be returned by a company lawyer. I was then informed not speak with the client. That didn't happen.
Ray Montes told me that the funds were sent to his lawyer. I was told this on Oct. 30, 2009. Then I saw a message from the AAF lawyer to the client saying she was still waiting for funds.
Then Ray Montes uses all his stall tactics, he will pay on Friday, at the bank now, in a meeting with the bank, etc...
Until now Ray Montes has not returned the funds to my client. They will now proceed to press charges with the FBI. I am sure that he will get 20-50 years and each day that passes when he is in prison will be a thrill for me.
