I had went to Ray Chevrolet in search of trading in my 2008 Grand Prix for something that would fit my growing family. Walking in the door I was immedialty greeted by Tim who told me that he would get me into a vehicle that would fit my family and soimething that I would be happy with.
After going over all my paperwork and seeing that I had a trade in with a value of over $6000 he had told me that he had the perfect vehicle for me and showed me a 2007 Suzuki XL7. I was thrilled, it was big enough for my family, had every option you coud think of and from there I signed over my Grand Prix and went through all the financing for what I thought was my new vehicle. There was a check engine light on which they told me they would fix, I just had to bring it in anouther day because thier shop was closed for the night.
Before I had gotton to drive it home, I had remembered that I needed the licence plates off of my ,Grand Prix for the new vehicle. Tim did not have a screw driver so he preceeded to rip off the licenece plates from the grand prix destroying the mounting brackets and leaving gouges in the front and back of the Grand Prix. I did not think anything of it because I saw it as thier vehcile now and not mine, so I put the plates in my vehicle and went home.
Three days had passed and I had called Ray Cherolet to schedule a time to come in to get the the check engine light fixed and thats when Tim had told me that I needed to bring the vehicle back cause the bank did not approve it and that they would get me into something else. He told me they had a few vehicles that I cold choose from. I didnt understand this becuase I had already signed all the paperwork and did the financing, signed over my grand prix and thought everything was said and done.
Nevertheless, I took the vehicle back in to Ray, and Tim had given me a list of vehicles that I could choose from, 2 were cars which would not fit my family, 1 SUV and 2 minivans. I had first asked about the SUV, so Tim got up and went to "look for the keys" and came back and told me that he couldnt sell me that one because it was unsafe and that it didnt pass thier safety inspection, eventhough he had just "sold" me a vehicle with the check engine light on. It was then between a Town and Counrty and a Ford Freestar. I asked about the Town and Country and when he went to "check" on it he came back and told me that that one had been sold. Why he didnt know that it had been sold I dont know. So my only option was the 2006 Ford Freestar. Mind you this thing had only 53000 miles on it but looked as thought it had been repainted, the headlights were different amongst the many mehcanical issues I was about to learn it had. I didnt not like this vehicle from the very begining it was not what I had wanted and I was not happy. I had then asked if I could just take my Grand Prix back and they told me that they had already sold it. I broke into tears as my only option was something I did not want. I was forced into this vehicle and I have had issues with it every since.
First issue, after only days the battery and alternator was making noise and not holding a charge. I had to talk to Matt Devicus and argue with him to change them both which he was very rude about but reluctatly did it. Second issue, the power steering pump was making noise and we thought that part was on its way out and Matt gave us some half a*s written note saying that he would warranty the pump until april of the following year. The transmission had bee slipping and shuttering from the moment we got it but they were worried about selling me an "unsafe" vehicle right?
After April, we had contacted Ray Cherolet many times and they give us the run around or they tell us that Matt would call us back and never has. it was less than a year and the computer has gone out, the paint was literally peeling of in clumps, we have had to replace the battery 3 seperate times, the speed sensors on all 4 tires quit working, the door locks dont work properly and finally the transmission had quit shifting. It kept dying out in the middle of intersections, left me and my 3 children stranded on the side of the road in the rain beacuse it would not stay running.I couldnt trun the heat on in the winter because it would die out. We have sunk thousands of dollars into repairs to try and keep our only vehicle running along with barely keeping up on the payments.
Ray Chevrolet sold me a lemon because they thought I was some dumb woman they could pull one over on. They took my 2008 Grand Prix with less than 100,000 miles on it, with NO mechanical issues and made me think I was getting a better deal, just to turn around, take the vechile from me to give me something they did not want on thier lot anymore. I will never go back to Ray Chevrolet and dont reccomend that anyone else does either. The vehicle had 73000 miles on when they took and Im still dealing with the financing company.
Bought a jeep 3 years ago after my husband left me and my daughter, I live on disability. it lasted one week they gave me a replacement charged me 10 grand and it didnt last 2 years transmission gone. I cannot fix my car or buy a new one so now I am screwed Thanks Ray Chevrolet.
