The website allowed monstrous defamatory comments by consumer. I asked my ex client to remove the false statements and informed her they were defamatory and considered libel and internet bullying or she would hear from my attorney. I then contacted the website to remove the false statements or I would contact an attorney. I told a couple of my clients about the negative review of me and they joined the site and paid the $5.00 fee to leave factual positive reviews. A day later I received an email saying I would be banned from the website because I contacted the reviewer and made a "threat" (by law a "threat" is saying you will cause bodily harm or ruin their reputation and saying you will take legal action against their illegal acts is NOT a threat) and contacting a review and doing this is a violation of their (very legally loose) user agreement. The website went even further to ask my clients to provide financial documentation to prove they were clients of mine (which they both are), their response being that was private information and that they paid cash. I highly doubt this company asked for private financial documentation from the negative reviewer to prove that they were clients. That's an invasion of privacy, and that is outside of the companies scope and powers, only govenrment agencies and credit companies are allowed to request and obtain private financial data. I have now since been banned from the site to make any kind of changes to my profile, even though I paid the $5.00 fee to join when I received an email from them alerting me that I had a negative review... the positive reviews were deleted and the negative remain. So, completely false statements are left on the internet and the positive ones are blocked. This business is my lifeblood and I have dedicated 20 years to the field. It's a shame that this will be costing financial losses all because of an vindictive and spiteful ex-client.
