My mother met this guy at Desi Deli located on New York, NY . Supposedly this guy was the store owner. He started harrasing my mother until one day my mother gave in and accepted to go out with the guy. Things led to another and next thing I know she allowed him to stay a couple of nights with her in her apartment. My mother was getting a major surgery done in September 2014 and she had to leave her job but she didnt think it was a bad idea because she had Mr. Scam Artist aka "Rey". He promised her that he would be taking care of everything from bills to rent. Doctors recommended for my mother to be in bed for one and half months due to the surgery that she had gotten she decided to leave it all up to Ray. Ray had been a sweetheart to her until after the surgery when he started acting violent with her and harrasing her and discriminating her. My mother always called me crying telling me what this man told her and made her feel, but she always asked me not to do anything because she was expecting for him to at least pay for her rent until she could get a job again.
3 months have passsed since September, she is backed up on 3 months rent totaling $2,658.00. Ray also managed to use my mothers name and social security number to open credit cards under her name. He opened a Best Buy account card and currently used $2,736.11, Macys card at $2,028.45, Bobs Furniture WellsFargo $3,000.00. He managed to add packages too her Time Warner Cable and currently owes $400.00 for 3 months of service and counting. This man has been torturing my mother physically and mentally, always harrasing her and telling her that she is no good, that she is a "player" and he always tends to make up things just to start a fight. I am really worried and do not know what to do. I do not know if reporting him to the police will help solve this. Any advise I can get will be very much appreciated!!!
By the way this man is still staying in her home. My mother has no clue that he is in fact a scam artist. Please any help I can get. Thank you
