Here in Katy Texas on Wednesday my wife Dorothy Sprague filled her vehicle with fuel at the Raceway on Westgreen blvd. It wasn't until she was almost at work did she notice the car acting strange. She didn't think much of it at the time. When she got off work, (In the heights) the car would not start. We had to have the vehicle towed all the way to Katy here to the house for me to look at it as the vehicle doesn't have a warranty. (The warranty wouldn't help if it did have one) After chasing engine codes and replacing a few parts my wife and I determined it was best to take it to the dealer. We took the vehicle to the dealer on Wednesday morning.
Thursday the dealer had determined that the fuel which was in the unleaded underground tank at this raceway had been filled with diesel fuel. The receipt from the pump clearly states unleaded! When I spoke to Steve at Allen Samuels dodge he had confirmed there were at least 6 other vehicles in the shop for the same problem. Some had serious damage. All had fueled at Raceway. Today my wife made contact with Raceway and they are telling us we have to pay for all repairs out of pocket and it will be 6 weeks before we are reimbursed. Our only other option is to file a claim against our own insurance.
We cant afford to pay for the rental for a undetermined time frame while all the investigation and repairs are made. The damage is in excess of 2000$ at this time and it is still undetermined how much damage has been done to the vehicle. We checked in with Steve this evening and he had stated that 7 additional vehicles came in this afternoon. I can only speculate how many repair shops and dealerships in Katy and around the west side of Houston have these vehicles in them. Some folks can afford the out of pocket expense. But if we are like most then some of these folks are out of transportation to their jobs, doctor visits, dropping kids at school. Please help provide a means to get Raceway to do the honorable thing here and accept financial responsibility for their mistake.
