Quintessential Universal Building Device, Inc. Reviews

I purchased products from this company and have been waiting more than a year for them to follow up. No response from any attempt to contact

On 07/28/2013 I had ordered $2,952.00 worth of products. Waited patiently till it was shipped on 06/28/2014. Within the order was suppose to be 4 rolls of filament ($38.50 per roll), as well as a "milling package" about ($800.00), most of these parts were never shipped and have yet to be received. I also purchased a TwoUp 3d Printer on 11/2/2013 from them while waiting for the previous order that they had kept promising was "getting close" to being shipped out. The TwoUp printer arrived without the heated bed which was a $99.00 add-on. I have submitted numerous support tickets, as well as emails to Nathan, David, and Chelsea, along with some call attempts. The contact information is seemingly kept secret deliberately as it take quite a bit of research to find a way to contact them outside of the "Support Ticket" system they employ. Even most of the customers on their forum have no idea as to a way to contact them. Some have made long drives from distant states to try and claim their money or merchandise. Thier forum shows a lot of people very mad at not getting product and/or any response for at least a year and with some of them with a loss of many thousands of dollars per person. Some are international customers as well, who have no possible way to challenge them. Just Google them and see the shear amount of “issues” and Complaints waged on these people in the last year or so.

That is just one thread out of many. One website of many.

As of late, most if not all the people who have not been refunded or received the things they paid for have banned or quieted on the forum as a form of damage control. The tactic is to ignore as it seems we can't do anything anyway.

One of the most frustrating things they have done is having sent a document to sign to people whom had ordered their most expensive product (a 3D printer called the RPM). This document came nearly a year after I had ordered one, and nearly 2 years from other customers. It basically pointed to the idea that they weren't going to send a RPM unless you signed it, basically a hostage letter. It also seemingly was suppose to cleared them of supporting certain parts of the printer if you chose some of their predetermined scenarios. Yes, it was multiple choice. A number of those that did not sign for reasons of not actually getting the waiver (as it only was on the forum), or decided they wanted the machine they had already paid for have yet to get it. Some have received piles of unfinished parts rather than a machine they paid for, or another printer model that they did not order... and so on. I believe their might be a basis for a class action suit against this company if someone knew how to go about looking into it.

...INTERMISSION.. (thanks for bearing with me this far..)

Recently on their support forum someone is now attempting to sell ( to the people that have already paid for the machines) 30 units of incomplete RPM printer/mills. There are some pretty upset people out there at the moment.. It has been mentioned that the RPM project is now a bust and these are the units that have been paid for previously.. Nobody from QU-BD seems to be able to make any sort of statement on if people will get their products. Their has been a lot of talk about the “waiver” they made people sign as well. As it may be the reason they have yet to get their machine, which is not true. People of whom have signed a release to get a refund have yet to see the refund. I personally did sign the waiver.. I did however receive a “fully” assembled machine (w/o milling parts or filament), after confronting them at our Maker Faire. Regardless of what your choice was it was to also include tech support to assemble and get it up and running. This has not happened, and its very frustrating to get a 3000 piece of equipment that works marginally well at half (the second half) of what it was suppose to do. and have nobody to help get it running properly. This R.P.M. (Rapid Prototyping MILL) was suppose to be a “milling machining” when ordered but they refused, then ignored pleas to send the milling packages to anyone. Apparently, the machine cannot actually mill from reports of people whom have made the drive to meet them face to face and acquire some parts parts. The reason this machine was sooo bloody expensive was infact suppose to be a “Milling Machine” as well. If it can’t do that nor even print well, it is so far from being worth the money paid nor the headache and ulsers acquired. The fact they don’t even respond is criminal.

I would return it, but since they have never responded I have been forced to modify it just to get it working, which has not happend yet. So, I’m guessing its not really returnable at this point. I (and all the people who have been taken advantage of) would really like to get my money refunded on all the parts that I never received (i.e. Filament, RPM mill package, TwoUP heatbed) As well as some sort of compensation if they are unwilling to support the product (i.e. replacement parts, firmware, tech help) I think if they aren't going to solve the issue with “milling”, a percentage of the cost of the machine should be refunded. The thing is called a Rapid Prototyping MILL! for Petes sake! This is soo frustrating! They should be ashamed of themselves.

I hope this site can help someone, Even the Attourney Generals office of Little Rock basically said that Qu-bd after contacting them were unwilling to work with any issues. The AG's office then said we don't get involved in these typs of things... Uhhhh, I was under the impression that was the job of the AG's office, you know, help people figure out what to do.
