I purchased a used engine for my Subaru online from Quality used engines out of Leawood Kansas. I was given a quote of $2370.00 for a used engine with 29,000 that was gauranteed to not have a cracked block and that the engine had passed a compression test on all cylinders. The engine was shipped to the local Subaru dealer where it was installed by a certified Subaru mechanic. When the engine was cranked up it puffed white smoke indicating that water was getting in to one or more cylinders. A compression test verified that number 2 and number 4 cylinders on the same side of the engine were low on compression. Further investigation showed that both cylinders were getting coolant in them indicating a crack in the block and through the water jacket. The certified mechanic stated that there was no way that this engine had passed a compression test prior to shipping. After multiple phone calls were not returned I started investigating this company and confirmed my worst fears that this company was a total sham and had only been in business for two years in Kansas and was owned by Al Talyansky of 2100 east College ave Cudahd Wisconsin 53110. Who operates a junk yard at that location and is a known rip off artist. My only successful communication has been by email to a fellow named Dale whose last email wanted me to make the engine available for pic up and then they would refund my money. But when I asked who would pay the mechanic to remove the engine and to remove the parts that had been put on the engine he has not responded. In short im out $3915.00 dollars the $2370.00 will be refunded by my credit card but I will be stuck with the mechanics bill to install a worthless engine.
