Let me start off by letting you know that I warned the district manager about leaving an honest, but poor assessment on any and all avenues available to me, and she scoffed, almost giggling. I really wish I didn't have to give these people any stars at all. I have been using storage facilities for more than 11 years to store inventory for my on-line business. I have always had very good luck until I decided to rent one large storage unit from Public Storage. I cannot speak for all of their locations, but I can speak for the 150 Tully road, San Jose location, their employees, and the district manager whom this location falls under her realm of responsibility. I have been there approximately 5 months, and had noticed the staff and management to be a bit rude, but no big deal, due to the infrequency of my visits, UNTIL this past Saturday, when I donated 30% of my inventory to a project to help feed our homeless. I had three or four different people from a local non-profit stop by to pick up pairs of shoes for the event, and they were threatened by management to leave their property or they would call the authorities and claim trespassing. They acted extremely confrontational, even to the point where some of the folks felt threatened by their demeanor. I contacted the customer service line, and was given the district manager's contact information for this site, called immediately, leaving a message requesting her assistance, but never received a return call. Four days later, I telephoned her again today, and after reminding her about the situation, she claimed to have pictures of me hosting what looked like a flea market in front of my unit. In her defense, I did have to move some inventory and stage it in front of my unit to get what I donated, but certainly nothing close to what she had described to me. Instead of trying to address the unprofessional behavior we experienced from the staff, she began to tell me that we broke the rules of our rental agreement by allowing people whom are not on the lease onto their property. Even though this is normal practice, as almost everyone solicits assistance to move, etc. Obviously, due to the size of Public Storage, good ole customer service is lost. They absolutely could care less if you stay or go...and the time that you are stuck there, have no problems being unprofessional with you. If you have a choice, ANY choice other than Public Storage..TAKE IT.

I am hoping that this is not too late. Here is a little about our situation.

My husband and I had our belongings in storage for a little over a yr. Meantime, the Public Storage place on Rt 29, here in Centreville, VA needed an auction.

They claimed that they had no address for us. Well they did have our address. My po box 876 where they sent one letter one time.

This one location was under some pressure from hdqts to have an auction, as they had not had one in a while. They choose us, because they knew what we had. What we had was 35 yrs of marriage, and an entire household of belongings and everything involved.

1. Medical Records, from military.

2. Scrapbooks from just about my entire family.

3. Entire house of furniture, including my piano, china cabinet, stero systems, record albums piano books and everything just about associated with that.

4. My husband Colin's dresser, there were the following things. He had anmo for one of his firearms and I am sure, the person who got the auction, kept all the anmo. Well the law says, if its not yours, you can't keep it.

This is whats happened as a result of the theft and lies from Public Storage.

My family has just about disowned me, and some won't even speak to me anymore.

We had our entire house in this public storage.

PS lied to get our belongings so they couldl have an auction and keep HDQTS happy.

PS here in centreville, VA pretended that they had no address for us, so they could do the auction. They lied, as said before, they had my po box, but only used it once.

They took 35 yrs of marriage away from us. This has terribly affected our relationship. I spoke about military medical records before. Most can't be replaced, as I had the original, and this is before, they started keeping records. So now in trying to get my navyreserve retireent, its going to be tough to get it, but I will get it.

Having had threats made against me by the local manager of Public Storage, I should not have been surprised at the latest trick and chicanery perpetrated by this disreputable company, but when I went online to pay my monthly storage bill, I was. astonished: for the second time in less than a year, this company has raised rates - this time by more than 30% and without the required written notice. Upon phoning the company HQ to inquire about this unauthorized increase, I encountered a multi-layered machination in the automated phone system which is obviously designed to so frustrate callers that they will give up before ever reaching "customer service" (an oxymoron of the first order). When finally connected to a person and telling him that (a) I had experienced the 2nd rent increase in less than a year and that (b) the required written notice was never received. The "customer service" representative became overly defensive and stated that notice was sent and proceeded to read off the address FROM WHICH I HAD MOVED. I had provided CURRENT address information more than 18 months ago, along with CURRENT phone information, but Public Storage apparently has never had an opportunity to input the corrected data and update its records.

The company is NOT an honorable business entity; the company's "customer service" department is trained to assert the evident company policy that the CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS WRONG; the onsite managers are SCARY individuals (I had to call the police on one who was threatening me); the company is operated as if it were (and perhaps it IS) an organized-crime entity. I believe the underlying philosophy of this company is antithetical to any code of conduct common to the service industry to which it portrays itself to be a member and that the business should be investigated thoroughly, steps should be taken to shut it down, and customer reviews be made known public instanter - someone is going to be injured physically (as well as financially) by this company and its representatives. This goes beyond "caveat emptor"!

PublicStorage will take advantage of you when you are most vulnerable, moving. They confuse you with gibberish while making you sign and initial contracts that contradict themselves and make no sense. I reserved a unit at the Chicago Western location, changed my mind ahead of time, decided not to use the unit, and they deny me any refund whatsoever. I let them know ahead of time that I was cancelling.

They have on record that I never picked up the lock, or put anything into the unit I reserved, and they are charging me full price. This all happened before my move-in date, so they didn't even lose any money on the rental. Now they are going to rent it to someone else, and make double profit. They will try and badger you into buying extra things, force you to buy insurance, and rip, you, off. Oh, and don't be fooled by any "specials" they might be running. They force you to buy a lock, and pay over 20 dollars in an administration fee. If they wanted to charge me for a few days, I would be ok with that, which would come out to about $9.57. What a ripoff.

Warning to all-Public Storage is the WORST storage company in the company. You will regret it if you use them for anything. Once you move in the company will hit you with usurious fees and charges, and there is nothing you can do about it.

I was traveling and there was no Public Storage near me to make a payment. Because I do not pay anything online, Public Storage charged me $20.00 to pay my $50.00 bill. When I complained to the BBB, Public Storage responded by raising my rent!

The company claims I should have read their contract-that right there in the small print is authorization for them to charge these fees and raise my rent whenever they like. That may be true-but what is legal and what is right are different things. Charging your customers to pay your bill is unconscionable. When you talk to their customer service "reps" they will be the rudest people you can imagine. Public Storage is one of those mega-corporations that could not care less about their customers or doing the right thing. They will ding you with fees and rental increases whenever and wherever they can.

I have used many local smaller storage companies over the years, and never had the problems I have had with Public Storage. Avoid Public Storage at all costs. I hope this message helps someone, for there is nothing the company will do for me.

I was a client at public storage in Crenshaw blvd in Torrance, Ca. I kept getting sexually explicit text messages from the DISTRICT MANAGER BRANDON CROOKSHANKS. He sent me photos of him pumping toilets, photos of him with no glasses on like a headshot. Brandon would ask me what i was wearing, to text him when I get home when i get in my PJ's. He would ask me was I in bed, was I naked, what was I wearing, Inapropriate messages for almost 9 months. I HAVE COPIES of all of the text messages and I will be posting those soon in a seperate report. Brandon Crookshanks is a scum bag and a pervert, and he is always looking for a quick side piece. Not to mention is he ugly as hell.

This complaint is about the Public Storage facility at 1062 Saint Johns place in Brooklyn NY 11213. I reserved a 10 by 10 or at least that is what I was mis-lead to believe. Only to find out the unit is actually and 9 and half by 9 and a half space. Why wasn't Hanna honest with me on the phone and more importantly when I showed up there in person in April to view the space?

I contacted public storage to rent a 10 by 10. I went to view the 10 by 10. I saw a 10 by 10 on the first floor in April. Hanna said nothing on that day about the unit being Approximately a 10 by 10. Had she said that I would have asked her to explain that so I can know if my belonging will fit into the space. Hanna made no mention of that.

..... Hanna told me in the latter part of April I could not reserve the spot I had to wait a week or two before I would move in to reserve the spot. I’m not sure what was the purpose of coming in to look if I couldn't reserve the unit…….On May 11 around 12 noon I arrived at the facility to move in. The movers went upstairs to the 4 floor to view the space. The movers told me all of my items would not fit in the space. I was in a state of shock…………..

Why didn't Hanna contact me in advance about her too small dirty dusty smelly units when she noticed on her inventory list that they were the only ones she had if indeed they were the only ones she had……… I would have had more time to choose a different location………..I arrived at the facility May 11, 2015. Hanna attitude was Horrible. Hanna's customer service was terrible. She took me up to the fourth floor to show me the room my belongings would be stored in. The space was unclean dusty and had a funny smell of moth balls. I asked her what other unit did she have she took me to the fifth floor to look at yet another old dusty funny smelling unit. Hanna told me that would be my unit. I asked her who made that decision. Hanna said the employees make that decision. I stated to Hanna the unit I reserved was much cleaner than these and did not have a funny smell nor where they up high in the building. I explained to Hanna I have some health issues and also would not rent a unit that has no climate control.

I asked Hanna were the units climate control. Hanna said the 4th floor was not and the 5 floor was. Hanna also said the 5th floor unit did not come with the dollar move in special but that it was climate control. At this point I starting to realize that Hanna was set me up to take advantage of my situation. Hanna's moves all very calculated and well planned. I was getting more and more frustrated with Hanna. I requested to speak with her supervisor. Hanna refused initially to provided any assistance with speaking to her manager to resolve this issue. She insisted that she didn't know how to contact her supervisor nor had any number for anyone in authority over her. Hanna insisted that I contact the 1800 # I asked Hanna why she was telling me to do that knowing it would only route me back into this facility located at Saint Johns Place where I have a reservation.

I reluctantly called the 1 800 # and for certain it routed me right back into the office so by now I and Hanna are standing there listening to my call ringing inside on the office phone. Humiliation and disrespect no regards for my money or earning my business. I then said to HannaI called your 1 800 # and you see if it rings right back into you office. I then said to Hanna since you know what prompts to press why don’t you call the 1 800 # number and get a manager on the phone. Sure enough when Hanna call turns out she knew exactly how to get someone on the phone. So when I first asked to speak to her manager she was giving me a hard time and refuse to help or provide her bosses information. Hanna got customer service on the phone a representative by the name of Flor #7157 I spoke with in the public storage call center. Flor #7157 provided me with the manager and district managers phone number.

I called Edward manager and Ravinder district manager for two hours niether one answered the phone. The movers were standing around outside frustrated because they couldn't start the job knowing the space was too small. Hanna listen while I explained to Flor #7157 how she Hanna treated me how they false advertised the space. How the space was too small to fit my belongings and how Hanna showed little interest in getting her manager on the phone before the issue escalated. During the time I was on the phone reporting my experience with public storage I was looking directly at Hanna…..she was their rolling her eyes more and making all sort of gestures towards the other representative in the office showing disapproval for my right to find someone to rectify the situation so I could get the items moved into the unit and pay the movers so they could finally leave. Ms Hanna was quite angry with me going over her head.

Ms Hanna did not want her superiors to know what she did. I was set up for failure by Hanna public storage personnel. I explained to her I needed a 10 by 10 I trusted public storage to provide me with a unit big enough to fit my belongings. I went in and looked at the unit. The unit Hanna showed me looked big enough and clean enough on that day. However when I showed up on May 11th everything had changed. When I could not get anyone to answer my calls Edward nor Ravinder, I felt desperate then called 911 to request a officer to show up to rectify the situation. My belonging were sitting outside on the side walk in front of public storage. Ms Hanna behaved as though she had a vendetta against me. Two officers showed up officer Rocke 5976 was not in the least bit interested in trying to solve this matter.

The officer told me that this was a civil matter. The police officer did nothing to resolve the issue. He didn't advise Hanna to get her supervisor on the phone he did not inquiry about why they told me something different on the phone from what I was now looking at. However what the officer did do was inform Hanna to contact them if I get aggressive they would be back in a flash to arrest me. This is the type of humiliation Pulbic Storage partakes in now for potential customers. Edward manager and Ravinder based off of what Hanna told them on the phone and perhaps email them Manager Edward and Ravinder told Hanna to cancel my lease and refund my money. Knowing that my items were sitting outside on the side walk. The also told Hanna to inform me that they wanted me off their property. Meanwhile the movers are threatening me to leave, and leave my belonging sitting out on the street. Two hours have gone by it is getting closer to the place closing. The managers Edward and Ravinder deliberately waited until 4:00 o'clock to finally answer the phone I wasnt ready for what came next.

Edward and Ravinder came up with a plan to put the rest of my belongings in the other storage space at an additional 329.00 dollars a month. By now I have two units one that I sgined up for and told my things would fit at a price of 318.00 dollars and another one that I have been con into after lies and deception for an additional 329.00 dollars. This is the suggestion Edward and Ravinder came up with. Pretty convinent Uhh. They knew fully well what they were doing. They beat down the clock knowing that I would have no other alternative but to put my belonging into two units. Had they contacted me at least a hour after I first tired calling them this problem would have been resolved. And So the managers knowing that I had no other alternative at that point I was forced into getting 2 dirty smelly units to put my belonging when initially I signed up for One. That’s it……that’s all I needed was for Hanna to do business properly and give me what I paid for.

I also remember speaking to a representative on the phone about a 10 by 15 renting at 1062 Saint Johns place as a matter of fact the representative stated that a 10 by 15 would be on reserve for me on my move in date May 11, 2015. I want this matter resolve immediately. I refuse to pay two storage fees because public storage was not honest with their unit size. I will not allow this to continue with out taking it to a higher level. I also spied the facility has roaches. Roaches!!!! Roaches!!!!! I certainly did not sign up for that. The unit Hanna showed me in April appeared to be clean. I didn't see any problems with insects. I want this matter resolved immediately.

I will not be paying for two spaces when I was promised a unit that would fit my belonging. Not to mention the fact that this whole ugly ordeal lasted so long I missed another important storage appointment in the Bronx which now may have fallen through since I was unable to show up at the facility. I want to be compensated for the deception humiliation poor customer service and treats to have me arrested for what and lastly asked to leave the property knowing my things were sitting outside on the street………. if anyone should have been threaten to be arrested it should have been Hanna and who ever else is supporting her lying to the public. I traveled from far, central jersey yesterday with a truck fully loaded only to run into a HORRIBLE SITUATION……… I want some answers ASAP……………Or if I have to take this matter up in civil court I surely will……

Resolution I want public storage to either refund the 1100.00 dollars it cost me to move into their too little dirty smelly bug infested unit or relocate my belongings to a unit that is the correct size and clean at the price we discussed on the phone…….

This storage facility and agents are engaging in illegal auctions. Agents are intentionally disabling the auto-pay and not processing payments in order to purchase people's items at a discount. They may also be deleting video to cover up the crimes. The company also does not mail a letter before the auction which is against Florida law

Public Storage in Belmont STEPHANIE is the "manager".

---> Horrible customer service! <---

I've rented one or more units at this facility almost continuously for about the last 14 years. I never had a problem. Then comes Stephanie. And here's what happened in a nut shell:

I had a friend rent me a unit in her name so I could get a break on the first months rent.

Anyway, I told my friend I would only be there for 1 month. But I went past that mark by about two weeks because I had to wait until I got my check.

During this time I met Stephanie and discussed the fact that the property in that unit was mine and when I was going to pay the bill.

Well, my friend ( who could qualify for the village idiot) started tripping thinking she was going to get stuck with the bill ( which I told her I would take care of) and called Stephanie and told her she didn't want that storage in her name anymore.

Well, Stephanie told her to come over right now, and had her sign a paper that she didn't read and wasn't explained as to what she was signing. (Which I requested a copy of, but it got mailed to the corporate office). And

Stephanie auctioned off my property the next day. All this behind my back.

The thing is, Stephanie was well aware that the property did not belong to the person who she had sign that paper. And she knew I paid for that unit and when I was going to pay the two weeks rent I owed and move out.

They are supposed to pay you anything above what you owed on the unit from the auction, but Stephanie said when it went to auction, it was no longer my property.

So not knowing any of this, I rent a truck for $100, and go to the property to pay the rent I owed and move my stuff out, only to find all my stuff was gone.

I asked her if my property was still on the property and she said "go ask your friend". She wouldn't answer any of my questions. Needless to say I was pretty hot!

So my property is gone, I can't get a copy of what she signed, or what it sold for at the auction, and even though she knew I was the owner of that property, I wasn't a tenant, and that's who apparently owns the property as far as they are concerned.

Personally, I would like to see her employment terminated, and be compensated for my losses. But legally I don't know if I have a leg to stand on.

I know the people who work at the corporate office don't care about their customers, their property, or even the employees running the facilities.

They also have no problem with cheating their customers out of their money. That is ALL they care about! $. That I've experienced first hand. So going over her head seems like a waste of time.

Pretty lousy way to treat a customer, especially one who has been one for so long.

This problem focuses on the method "how" Public Storage "hooks" new customers and then dishonors discounts and rental pricing commitments with exhorbitant overnight increases in anticipation of the overlook of the customer. This is what I consider to be a company using dirty marketing techniques as they have a established means to their process to give customers a "run around", in their corporate quest for maximizing profit.

In my example, Public Storage have compromised their reputation for the total amount the rental discount is for, that is $177.40 (4 month stay) considering the advertised applied discount they would not give me per their own website. This is a mere scheme for something similiar to a bait and switch in my opinion, as contacting the store first instead of online results in a higher price. If you go online and can't get to the discount and ask for help, they defer to the store.

Then the store "has you" because it was made difficult to create the savings online and the online customer service rep does not include the discount, and then completes a reservation, resulting in the higher price which will not reflect the discount.

The initial "hook" is the online discount of 15% advertised on the national website. Since apparently not all Public Storage franchise facilities are alike, some have larger jumbo units than others. I opted for a store with the larger units after learning from visiting another store to travel there to Troy.

I went online first, started to create a profile / account with my name/address, however upon learning that the unit I wanted was not listed I called the national corp ctr phone for assistance and guessed at the size needed and they made a reservation for a 20x25 at $247/mo. I then traveled directly to the Troy facility to see it and spoke personally with Melissa who gave me a tour of the larger unit 30x30 along with current pricing at the 3-4 o'clock p.m. hour that day which coincided with the one price that National had reserved for, good for one week. I also looked at pricing for 3 other sizes, and was unsure of which one I wanted but would let her know in the morning.

Also, I asked if the $247 price allotted the 15% discount. It did not. So, I pointed to the webpage which said it was for new customers, online only which was my expectation as my earlier attempt to leverage that discount had already been done. I had done that but could not get the unit I wanted from the dropdown list for the reservation. There is a very tiny disclaimer asterisk which says some units do not apply but do not indicate WHICH units do not apply, the big icon for the 15% off is a generality used for a hook.

So, Melissa called "Dawn" a traveling manager for the area. Who stated an online account had to be created. I agreed. And went back home to finish up my existing account, but could not find the link now, and that be it the company webpage OR if I tried calling National, it kicked me automatically to the local Troy phone number.

I called National with my cell phone, because now I know my phone landline number had been inputted to the Public Storage database when I made that reservation.

We talked about insurance, I told her I would have my own ins agent tell afterwards that day, to me what my existing coverage was first, and I would return a call in the next morning.

Next a.m. 10 oclock, I called her again to confirm my insurance, and it was covered. At this point, Melissa indicated the price went up $20 for the now, 20x30 unit I really wanted as my assessment of my storage needs was slightly greater than the guess made on the phone the day before with Corporate. I asked about the reserved one, yes it went up too overnight in 12 hrs, but my reserv. held the price good and for a week. Well, since i'd created partially the account up to the point of the unit size, I would not retract the original reservation because my customer profile and reservation is time stamped. So, again I ask for follow up on the online discount for the upgraded unit and she said she would get with Dawn and let me know.

Now, 2 days later I call again, leaving a message, and "Nate" returns the call. I explained this whole scenario again. He seemed ok at first, very willing to help, and did not want to lose me as a customer. He would get with Dawn, and call back in a couple hours. He did. The mgr. Dawn indicated there was nothing they could do about it, when in fact the Corp office had told me 2 days prior that the district mgr Dawn had the authority. Also, in fact that Melissa had Dawn on the phone right there in front of me, with the phone turned outward so I could hear Dawn's comments. Which were to go online and create the account.

"Nate", though trained to be cordial already knew I was ready to walk, based on this treatment and his final words of cordiallity were indeed condescending. He gave me the 1-800-444-STORE phone no. to complain about it. Upon further googling, I found the Glendale, CA home office phone, 818-244-8080 and was transferred to "David Collins" Marketing Director, who has yet to return my call.

So, I am walking. But not without alerting other and helping someone else because if you google Public Storage you will find a myriad of complaints whereby customers are "duped" or treated unfairly. What shocked me is they did this to a new customer who has yet to even complete a transaction. This is not a customer oriented company, rather it is a hack company. And if you have a contract ready to sign, you may want to reconsider.

The bottom line is, by taking advantage of a process which deceives and works faster than you can follow up on, Public Storage maximizes returns by upping the price quickly, and denying the advertised 15% discount with smoke and mirrors.

Hopefully I will be able to attach copies of docs and emails to support my claim, otherwise please provide and email address where I can forward all information I have obtained legally to support this claim. Also, I am at the Waukegan downtown Public Library located on County St formerly Utica St. Llibrary is next to quite of few Lake County, Illinois offices as well as Waukegan, Illinois City/Municipal/County offices criss cross from Clayton St upto Belvidere Road.

Public Storage of Park City, Illinois 60085-5979 and I am sure other locations have numerous 800 numbers to contact stating corporate but really is a call center I assume in the US not Overseas. I originally had issue in 2014 concerning additional future payments and the online bill I received. Actually contact 800#/email "contact Us" via through their website. Problem with how their bills reflect payments and information on them. No itemization bills nor debt collection process needed due to Illinois Laws. Trying to pay my bill but denial of reasonable requested information such has itemized bill plus how they are determining monthly charges if originally and then transferred As a new owner got to be the 1st of every month versus different signed date on contact.

Was going to pay but their Recurring and Labor continuely increases on a daily basis versus monthly based on email from 800#. Seems as though paying for storage in advance of usage versus when received bill. No matter when you sign their Warehouse Self Storage agreements, all contracts are converted to the 1st of each month. Please contact by other numbers provided plus an additional email preferably due to I have a Free 250 minutes which I am out of minutes and probably by the time of your response Storage will have been Sold.

REIT corporation/company and Per Erica ( Property Manager/Owner/Agent) for Public Storage #20495, Public Storage/PS Orangeco, Inc Self Service Storage Notices stated on February 12, 2015 that My storage Auction information was put into the Daily Herald legal notices and will be going up for sell in February 23 or February 24, 2015 due to delinquency. out by her on what fees are due. Erica which is property manager/owner/Agent stated I need to call PublicStorage legal department to get and itemized bill and that she could not provide due to her office computer system/records do not allow her to get copy of screen, but as she wrote the labor/charges/fees on printed copy she handed me while she was reviewing her system. Also, Erica stated that renters of the Self Storages are prohibited by Property Manager/Owner/Agent & Public Storage/Ps Orangeco, INC/Ps Business Parks to pay in full up to and on the day of Auction per Law. She failed to mention what law, ordinance, statue she was referring but I would think it is on their all their websites including the individual websites too.

I have requested itemized ( breakdown) bill from #800 number, email PublicStorage.com and from Erica B. above and was refused by both. Now, I under according to information listed everywhere on the World Wide Web Internet that Public Storage, Inc also known under there other business names are PS Orangeco, Inc,, PS Business Parks, Shurgard overseas companies are considered REIT.

I am not a lawyer but Erica explained to me they were following State and all other laws including Federal, County when it came to Mailing Notification, all Lien application, and auctioning Laws in Illinois. I understand this is a huge corporation and have over 2200 facilities warehouses in the United States and Overseas, but reading other issues now with this company in other states.

Public Storage, Merrydale road, san rafael was a unit I rented for 2 years. When my Mother had a fatal illness I had to move to the state of CT.. Paul, the property manager was always caring and easy to talk with and work with for the years I was there. My boyfriend, Ian lived with me and watched over the unit sometime when I was aways.

When Paul left, and some manager named Joe was hired, about a few months just before my unit was auctioned illegally.

No postage from the post office showing a letter or intent to communicate with me. In fact my NYeve call at 9 pm here in CT by Joe informed me that I needed to pay a late fee, and that NO AUCTION DATE WAS scheduled. HE LIED OUTRIGHT.

2 weeks later, Joe sold my home property. My Mom just passed at that time, and everything she gave me was taken.

My identity, my original paintings, and journals and over $40,000 in property. I do have witnesses and some pictures of what was in my unit.

Feb.1st, Joe or John, gave me two names when he called me back on the phone, told me about the sale of my unit. I am trying to locate the auction buyer and locate any of my property. Tenant file, ledger, sign in sheet for the auction are being asked for to obtain my property.

I have my account printouts, my online web accounting, my district attorney case which I submitted quickly, my police report, filed the day I heard.

I have all documents, paperwork ,

I have not hired a law firm to date, and have been making every attempt to avoid this painful and costly process. However, I have consulted with regards to a civil lawsuit and will do what I must to see that justice is assured in the balancing of loss to rent due. I am now seeking a LAWYER as the company is acting in BAD FAITH as well by giving no response to mediate the recovery of my life.

Never rent from Public Storage especially the one at 1295 Selmi Drive, Reno, NV 89512. Roger Lund is the current manager, and he has the personality of a falling leaf. No people skills at all. My spouse and I were at the facility ever day for a week, and finally moved out on October 24, 2014, my 71st birthday, and Roger did not even remember my first name or acknowledge me when our paths crossed.

The fees are excessive, and we only received one discount of $12.00 for six months, after asking the home office, in five years of having the storage unit. Our rent started at $109.00 and ended at $146.00, when we terminated our relationship. Throughtout this relationship, we were charged additional fees for insurance, of $10.00 and $20.00 per month in addition to the cost of the unit. The insurance was not necessary as we had coverage included in our rental, and RV insurance. When we terminated our relationship, no funds were refunded since we had paid through the end of October. Apparently, no funds are refunded if you used the storage unit beyond the 6th of the month. This is also the date they charge late fees if you pay your rent late.

Had we known the rates would escalate so much, we would have moved our items to another location sooner. We have moved several times in the past few years, and it was not always convenient for us to return to Reno to move our items.

I just wanted to express my opinion, and hopefully help someone not make the mistake we did.

Thank you for listening.

This Facility has RATS. HUGE RATS. UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR PROPERTY RUINED AND ALL YOUR BELONGINGS, DO NOT GO THERE. Chose a Facility that tells the truth, that they have rats that will chew up all your belongings and NOTHING WILL BE DONE.

They also have alot of things missing from the units!!!! Either by two legged or 4 legged critters.

Complain to Management and NOTHING IS DONE!!! Horrible filth.

I recently needed a storage unit for my vehicle for a month. I contacted Public Storage in Tacoma off of Sprague Ave and at first, they seemed very nice and helpful. So, after having my small care stored there just a couple days under the full month, 7 days later I get a call saying I way 7 days late returning the key. I went down to hand over the key and pay my late charge. But, low and behold, not only did these scam artists charge a $40 late fee, but the also charged another $240 for a whole nother moth. Keep in mind, I was just late returning the key and nothing more. So, by being late, even a day, not only will you be charged a $40 late fee, but you will also be charged an additional month charge for the space youu rented. And yo would think that a simple phone call to get the $240 waived would be an option. But instead, the will give you "customer services'" number, where you'll be prompted to go through a long automated process to only get through and have someone tell you that they don't have the power to waive it. But, they will "give you their District Manager's number. After calling him, you will come to a voice mail that says he 'convieniently' is out that day and won't be back at his office until the following Wednesday! I recommend this place to no one and after being ripped off and put on hold for my own money, I will NEVER be returning to do business with them. I will be taking further action!

Public Storage, Hallandale, FL has repeatedly locked customers out of their units with no reason or explanation. Contact with the front office personnel reveals there is no basis to lock units, & are unable to explain why the unit is locked. I witnessed this occur to one person when I rented the unit, now, not 3 weeks later, they have done the same thing to me. I have the 1st month as free rent, after paying $75 to move in where the advertised price is $22 to move in. I have paid 2 $60 payments in order to pay the rent of $240 in advance of the due date. I was contacted after closing to advise there was a problem with the unit. When I went to the unit with a car load of items to store, I found the unit had been locked.

I will request that the responsible person be relocated to another property, demand a refund of the $195 I have paid to date, and have filed a complaint with the main office through publicstorage.com for the breach of contract.

I fully anticipate that I will receive a response to the question of "Why?" as " I don't know, I can't tell, there is no reason for it" just as I witnessed when I went in on 9/28/14 to rent the unit.

I read online that they office $1 first month rent. Well when I arrive at the office the first month's rent is $1 plus 22 admin fee plus MANDATORY $11 per month insurance. I was told the insurance was required by STATE LAW and that all storage companies have to require it. I sign up paid my $34 for the first month. When home called around to several storage companies to learn that there is no STATE LAW for mandatory storage insurance. One hour later I returned to the office to cancel my contract and was told, "Oh I thought there was a state law but it is a requirement of your contract. I asked to cancel the contract which was one hour old and was told the Admin fee was not refundable the insurance would be prorated and I would get a check for that in 6 to 8 weeks! I gave them cash what did they do with it in an hour!! This is clearly false advertising and the insurance is clearly a way to rip you off! DON"T USE THIS COMPANY The office people are also totally nasty and they will threaten you if you appear to be at all "frustrated" by their "COMPANY POLICIES"!

I rented a storage unit back in March of 2014 because I had to store my entire home that I lost due to foreclosure. I shopped many storage places and the best advertised price was Public Storage. They have a $1 1st month and 15% discount if you make your reservation online. Well 5 months later they get back from you all that savings that you thought you got.

They decided to raise the price of my storage by more then 20%. I understand that prices might need to be raised but a 20% increase is just not right, that is a considerable amount. In reality they are the most expensive storage company. They aren't really competitive if you take into considrration that the savings they advertised would be reverse thru their price increase.

I called them to discuss it but they don't really care, they just tell you it's in your contract. "We had to do it because operational cost have gone up". I know that's a lie, a 20% increase all around would mean millions upon millions in new revenue. If they were really doing this across the board there would be hundreds of pissed off customers, but there are not.

I decided to call 5 different national storage companies to ask them about their policy on raising the price of a storage unit once the owner was in it. Guess what, none of them do it and if they do it's a year after or longer.

All that Public Storage had to do was to be honest with their customers and inform them, but they are not. I would of simply gone with their competitors and I would be saving hundread of dollars a year. Public Storage should be asamed of themselvs this is in simple terms a bait and switch technique in a very creative manner.

Do yourself a favor and check all of this before you go with Public Storage as your choice, or else you are going to regret it if you dont.

Just moved to Arizona and needed a storage unit. Public Storage was thought to be a good choice, until I met Manager Eldon at this location. His dry personal quality doesnt care about his clients and if I wasn't so tired from the move I would of gone to another storage business. As we moved in the lock would not work, so Manger Eldon replaces lock and drops the keys on the floor next to our unit and leaves for the day. Its a hot day (welcome to AZ) and we just brush the little things off as our issue due to all the stress of moving and working in the heat. Getting to the point of my complaint, we lost our keys that very night. Our fault, so we call and another employee states that they should have a key to help us open it up, but nothing was in our file. According to Manager Eldon, this was not true. We need to sign a form for a district manager to address this issue and cut locks. These are not typical locks like a master lock to be cut with bolt cutters. These locks are built in and custom to the Public Storage business. Since we do not live in the area, we ask if they can send us an e-form to give permission to cut and replace locks. NO. They do not use any form electronically. They are a tree killing company that has no computer skills to adapt to the modern age. We have been waiting for a distric manager for a week and told he may be here on a Monday (Labor Day), but he can not confirm. So, no e-form, no distric manager, and no interest in helping us solve a simple mistake. I am sure we are not the first to lose a key and with it being there design of locks will cost us more with a lock smith than the average lock. Who wants to do business with a company that will not bend to help resolve a simple matter. So, as a customer who does not live in the immediate area I was told to drive and sign in person. This is not my only storage unit and find it difficult for a nationwide company that need to have in person paperwork signed and to wait there until the district manager shows up (if he shows up and on a holiday). According to Manager Eldon THIS IS Public Storage policy and not his. Right, so thanks for not helping and I will purchase a locksmith and leave your company to never return.

We have had a storage unit with Public Storage for 14 years. This month I get a notice that our rent is going up from $60 a month to $87. I called the local agent, Julie, who said they don't have anything to do with it. Then I wait online for over 10 minutes to finally get a real person (Roberta) who tries to tell me that is only a 30% increase and because I can't remember the last 4 digits of my drivers's license from 14 years ago she really can't help me ( sorry 27/60= 45% increase over the $60!) and I should be happy about it being so low. We will be finding a better and more customer friendly spot ASAP. I expected an increase, but if you received a 45% increase with any other bill, you'd look elsewhere, too. Too bad they didn't care about keeping a long time, consistently paying customer.

Ther is no such thing as a dollar move in at public storage after you get of the phone making your resevation and get to the location. the added charges of insurance and a $20 lock and the storage that is supposed to be 1dollar is for me really $28 to move in. they talk that dollar scam to get you in the store just to scam you even more in person.

We obtained a storage unit, but cancelled within one hour of ordering it. They continued to bill us and would not return our calls when we called. They left messages stating we owed money. When we would try to call back to discuss the matter, they would not answer and would not call back. When we called customer service, they stated that they had received calls of cancellation and that we should not have to pay but there was nothing they could do about it and we would have to go down and discuss with the manager but that the charges and the additional liens and fees they added would stand. They added a lien as well as "insurance" fees, all for a space and service we never used and cancelled appropriately. To make the situation go away, we paid all of the fees and charges, including a $20 fee in order to get it paid over the phone. The whole thing was a scam and adding a lien and other charges was nothing short of extortion. These people are bullies.

Been a customer for nearly 20 years at this location for 1o years , They raised my rent 20% so i decided to move to a larger unit which was offered online for considerable less than my new rate, The online confirmation quoted my move-in cost which included a $22 admin cost. even though I was moving within the same facility.

When I got there they wanted $38 more than that because they told me it was mandatory to buy a new $20 cylinder lock even though I already had one, and I also was told insurance was mandatory even though I knew it was worthless. They lied to me saying It was necessary to have a new lock so both units would be locked at all times.

I talked to a Lady who was transfering her stuff also, she said she was not charged for a new lock but was charged the administration fee.The manager implied she was lying by saying she did pay for a new lock. This was not true as I saw the old unit was left with no lock(ie. unsecured) I am now the proud owner of 2 locks together worth maybe $5 & insurance I do not wish to have and the knowledge that the manger LIED TO ME .

On May 30,2014, I went to public storage on the East Freeway. The problem begin when the sales associate showed me the storage. It was all the way in the back of the facility in the G section. . I was told that there was no golfcart. It was hot and I got short of breath. I literally had to stop and take short breaks. My elderly mother was with me and that walk to storage caused her ankles and feet to swell. It also caused her bloodpressure to rise. I called the district manager Mrs. Katy to complain, but it went straight to her voicemail. I left a message and she never returned my phone call. I think that is so unprofessional. I will never use public storage again nor will I recommend this company to anyone else.

I would like to give a word of warning to any that are considering renting storage space from Public Storage. As a company, they will likely try to draw you in to renting with them using some offer that seems pretty reasonable at the start. Then, every 6 months to a year down the line, they'll bump up the rate, citing market rate as the reason. I will note that their idea of market rate is not based on the competition in the area, but on what they feel like they can get away with charging.

Public Storage claims to give 30 days written notice of increases of the charge and any fees, but I have only ever received notification by email very shortly before that increased charge was due. On top of this, if you do not pay the increased amount by the 6th of the month, they will lock you out of the area where your items are stored until you are up to current, including any increases to charges or late fees that they have made in this manner. In short, you have lost access to any of your items past this point unless you pay their increased charges.

I first started storing items in a 10' x 15' unit with Public Storage in February 2009, with an initial rate of $96.90 from their advertising. What their advertising did not mention is that the $96.90 was listed in their system as a discounted rate, but with a higher rate already in their system. Since this time, I have had my rates increased progressively over the years I've been with them to a current rate of $161.00 per month, and a late fee that increased from the one listed in the contract of $20.40 to the current late fee of $32.20. The only notification of increases I've ever received from them on the increases to rental rate have been by email, and no notifications of an increase to the late fees until they've come up.

It is possible that this lack of notifications is because of some break in their system. Perhaps there is a flaw that doesn't update the mail address for notifications, even if you update it in their system. If so, this is still a problem. I've called a few times on their corporate line just to make sure my information was current. It is, but this has made no difference in receiving any sort of notifications.

To give you a better idea of just how much of an increase this is, I have had my rates on the rental go up by over 66 percent since 2009. This is 66 percent increase over 5 years. The late fees have apparently also increased since 2009, though in this case, the increase is a little over 58 percent. All told, I'm paying two thirds more than when I started this thing, all because Public Storage felt they could get away with charging it. When I checked other companies in the same area, the rate for the same size storage unit is currently between about $90.00 to $130.00. None of them came close to what Public Storage claims is market rate. Public Storage claims that market rate is somewhere around $178.00 in that area, even though they list a lower rate for new customers.

Public Storage figures they can increase the rate each year, as they figure most people will just pay the extra rather than dealing with the hassle of moving their stuff back out. And for those that can't pay the increases, well, Public Storage has some hefty lien handling and sale fees that they add on as well, taking those and the additional rent and late fees they'll also charge on the items that can't be recovered until they get paid. Those fees come out of the proceeds they get by selling whatever is in that storage unit. If for some reason the sale doesn't make their total of fees, Public Storage will still charge you the additional amounts, too. What this means: If you are late in paying, and you are unable to catch back up, YOU WILL LOSE YOUR ITEMS, and you will be charged more for the privilege of letting them sell off the contents of your storage unit for them to collect on those inflated fees.

Short form of this, stay well away from Public Storage. They are a greedy company out to gouge you for as much money as they feel they can get out of you, with a particular target painted on long term customers. If you've been with Public Storage for years, they figure you will pay whatever they insist is the rate rather than moving. If you must use a storage place, do not use Public Storage. Stay far clear of this company for your own good. Tell your friends to stay away. Tell companies to stay away. Share this message on social media, in your email lists, on your corporate newsletter. Let Public Storage know that they can not treat customers like this in the only way that they will listen to, by reducing their profits. Take away their paycheck, because they certainly haven't earned it. Don't rent with them. If you are already renting with them, find a way to stop using storage, or go to another storage company. It will be worth it. Stay with them, and you'll find yourself wondering why you didn't listen.

On 4/12/14 I placed some ideas in storage approximately 12:40 pm. at location of

Public Storage 23088

300 Treat Ave

San Francisco, CA 94110-1326

Phone: (415) 861-1651

which I notice one the workers had been constantly monitoring me, which I open my storage space and observed my personal information had been ramshack through as being tampered with. At no time did I authorize public storage to solicit advisement of private contract with them over the internet... On the above date at approximately 7:10 pm in reviewing my text messages to my dismay all my confidential data with the above Storage Rental Agency was solicited online without my permission.

Which breach our contract to the customer right to confidentiality.

Civil Action in this matter is attentative due to the nature of agents working at location as employees violated privacy of the customer endangering their social well being.

Respectfully Submitted,

Public Storage located in West L.A. suddenly and without notice increased my rent by 13%. After contacting Customer Service, the representative read off some scripted answers, all unsatisfactory. She did however promise that another increase would likely follow in a short while. When I asked for more specifics, she gave me a District Manager's name (Rodney) and his contact number (310) 607-9415 ext. 3102.
