I applied for an apartment with Province of Briarcliff with a very nice young lady. I have never rented an apartment before as I've always owned my own homes so I was not familiar with the procedure and asked a lot of questions of the representative. I was approved for the 3 bedroom and I paid a $300 deposit to hold the apartment until May 1st.
At that time I was told that if I changed my mind within 72 hours that the whole deposit would be refundable, however if it was after 72 hours they would deduct the administration fees and application fees which I believe totaled $150.
Here we are 2 weeks later and still more than 3 weeks till move in and I found a home to purchase so I wrote to them to cancel my hold on the apartment and to please refund me the unused portion of my deposit.
The representative told me ""congratulations on finding a new home however none of the deposit is refundable"". I explained that was not what she told me the day I was there and they still refuse to refund the unused portion of the deposit.
Now of course $150 will not make me or break me but that is simply unprofessional and unethical to say one thing when someone is renting your place and when it comes down to the refund to say something totally different.
I've reached out to the management of Province of Briarcliff and have not yet received a response.

I am quite disappointed with this facility.
