Avoid this company like the plague! I notified Projects Abroad of my intent to cancel three months before I was due to begin the volunteering and arrive in Peru. According to the "terms and conditions" I should be entitled to a full refund. The staff went out of their way to make up all kinds of childish and petty excuses in order to not refund me three thousand dollars. In order to once again do nothing required of them, I was told I had to take this up with the travel insurance company. I had paid extra to have my travel insurance covered by these people, and they use an insurance company called "Endsleigh Insurance", this company is also extremely disorganized with very poor customer service. After I filed a claim, and weeks spent emailing back and forth, as soon as I proved my doctor's contact information (for some sort of mandatory check they have to do) Endsleigh dissapeared for 3 weeks. I had to chase them up and then, convinently, they said that there is no insurance policy booked for me. Which leads me to believe that either Projects Abroad cancelled my insurance policy so I couldn't get a refund through Endsliegh either, which wouldn't suprise me as they are very childish and simple minded. Endsleigh could have lost my insurance policy information (highly concerning since I would be in the Peruvian Amazon), or another problem could be simply that Projects Abroad didn't even bother to book my insurance. Highly, highly, untrustworthy company. Not only this, but despite me emailing and asking multiple times to update my phone number in case of any emergency while I was volunteering, months later they still had my old contact details on file! What if I went missing? No one would be able to contact me because the monkey's behind the computer's couldn't even manage to update a phone number. You cannot safely volunteer overseas with these buffoons, they are incapable of anything that isn't taking all your money. There has to be better options out there, this company is corrupt.
