Pro-Care Medical Center has a very shady business practice! They're a scam. Avoid this place at all cost! There are some other reviews on Yelp and Google+ also pointed out that their billing practices are very shady.
I had a running nose due to some allergy last year so I went to ProCare Medical Center for a doctor visit. But they're trying to charge me $430 for that simple 10 minute visit with Dr. Anila Ghaffar! They called me once last year and told me that my insurance company refused to pay for it because of lacking of referral. So they are having a debt collection company (credit bureau) to go after me now.
First of all, the $430 bill is unbelievable. How come a very simple 10-minute doctor visit resulted in a $430 bill? It was NOT an urgent care. I did NOT do anything in there but spending 10 minute with the doctor. The treatment can't be more simple and straight-forward. I was only dealing with a running nose and got a prescription from the doctor. That's all. They did NOT save my life or anything. I can't think of any other reasons why I owe them $430 except that they're a scam!
Second, before I visited the doctor, they spent about 30 minutes to verify my insurance information. The front-desk staff had me call my company and my insurance company. I had the staff talk to them and finally, their staff said my insurance would have covered that visit. So I went ahead and saw the doctor. But now they're saying my insurance company refused to pay for it. The bill was ridiculous anyway, no wonder my insurance company didn't want to pay for me. We are not stupid. Pro-Care Medical Center is poisoning the medical system by overcharging patients.
Third, the doctor visit was in last May. So after more than a year, I got a surprise phone call from the debt collection company they hired to go after me on Tuesday this week. Then I called Pro-Care Medical Center and tried to get some explanation about the bill. They said their billing department would call me back. But I haven't received any phone call from them yet. So here I am.
Update on 6/15:
The CEO Brent replied my review on Google+ and said their cash rate for that service is only $120. I emailed him via their website but I got no response so far. So I'm wondering why he wouldn't call me now that you already have my contact information. Total scam!
