Took a 92 Buick Lesabre here to have them diagnose the vehicle since I didn't have time and was leaving town the next day and a friend was going to be driving this for a few months while I was out of the cities.
They said I have a crankshaft sensor code set and the sensor looked beat up, I didn't want to let them repair it but I didn't have a choice so let them replace the sensor which is behind the Harmonic Balancer and needs a special tool that they said they had. THEY DID NOT HAVE THIS TOOL AND GUESSED because the car intermittently stalled for the new few months she drove it around. They installed the sensor and told me to come get the vehicle, I drove away and as soon as I got 8 miles, the check engine light came on. Told the person who was driving it too take it too O'Reillys the next day and scan the code. THE CODE WAS NOW A CAM SENSOR CODE. She drove the car because it didn't stall but once and restarted.
When I got back to town, I brought it back to them again for DIAGNOSIS BUT THE MANAGER TOLD ME THEY DIDNT HAVE ANYONE WITH THE RIGHT TOOLS TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. For the heck of it, I replaced the Cam Sensor and had the light cleared out and it came right back...
HERE IS WHAT HAPPENED. It went from Crank Sensor to Cam Sensor because the people who did the testing damaged the terminals or the computer on that circuit and this set the code. The car has never had any issues until it came to this mismanaged shop. THIS IS NOT A NEW ISSUE OR THEY WOULD HAVE SAID THERE WERE TWO CODES WHEN THEY SCANNED IT. This is the line the manager used to try and convince me its new.
WHILE TALKING WITH THE MANAGER, he told me they just don't have the right equipment or experience to diagnose this "older vehicle". Its a 92 WITH TECH 1 COMPUTER SYSTEM AND THEY CAN'T DIAGNOSE THIS-YIKES. I have called over four times and left the car here twice and nothing has been done with it and the MANAGER SAYS THIS IS A NEW PROBLEM AND THEY WON'T WARRANTY THIS AND I NEED TO PAY FOR TWO HOURS OF INSPECTION TIME TO TRACK THIS DOWN....People if they had the proper scanner and hired a trained Auto Technician, they could see how many times the key was cycled and the engine started to find out this code started after they touched the vehicle. Now the light stays on and the car fumbles in the morning and if it breaks down....im screwed because of their improper repair procedures they won't stand behind.
I have done some talking to local part stores and a few shops in the area who have said they often get a vehicle from this shop if they can't fix the problem. THIS MANAGER TOLD ME THEY OFTEN TAKE CARS TO THEIR COON RAPIDS STORE which someone working at that store has more experience. OKAY SO WHY DONT THEY TAKE IT TOO HIM TO FIND AND FIX THEIR SCREW UP. The manager told me it would only cost me $95.00 to find my problem so since my time was limited I let them tell me what was wrong and trust they knew what they were doing. BIG FAT LIE. NO WARRANTY AND THEY WON'T RECHECK IT AGAIN.
Do your research people before you hire all these big corporate stores. This is December of 2014. My issue started back few months ago and trying to leave the car there for a day or two if they need to find the problem they caused but manager keeps saying there is nothing more they can do. TIME TO CALL KSTP 5 OR KARE 11 AND CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS.
TO consumers, I didnt have time to diagnose and repair this since my auto technician equipment was up north so I trusted this place to do this right since this falls into their engine performance ability. The manager told me all this stuff while we were talking in the early part of the situation before this all went south and I started getting nasty. I told this manager to have the owner call me and if they dont fix what they damaged, then I will contact the media.
While I was in this shop a few times, there were comments made by the manager that two cars in the shop were come backs that didnt get fixed right. These comments were again when this had not turned sour on me. This guy managing this place is unprofessional and does not have the kind of experience a manager running a million dollar shop should have. Yes im bitter that im a tech who is being decieved by a shop.
THIS IS THE WORSE TYPE OF REPUTATION TO GET FROM ANOTHER TECH YOU SCREW OVER WHEN YOU WORK ON THEIR CAR AND THEY CAN OUT TALK YOU AND YOUR LINE OF BULL S*** BECAUSE EXPERIENCE DOESNT TEACH US HOW TO BE STUPID BUT BE HONEST AND DO PEOPLE RIGHT.
I PAID IN CASH SO I DON'T HAVE A CREDIT CARD TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH SO THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY AND RUN!
I brought my work van there for a complete tune-up costing $446.54
It ran worse when I picked it up.
Took it back the next day and they said it needed a distributor.
Got a second opinion and it turns out they didn't secure the plug wires properly and one burnt up on the manifold so they put one of the old wires back on the next day and then tried to sell me on the distributor being the problem and wanted to charge me another approx. $450 for parts and labor for it.
Don't use this Precision Tune because they are liars and cheats.
Please do not be a victim and fall for this scam of a company. Took my car in for a $18.99 oil change and came out spending over $2800! Within a quick visual of my BMW, they scared me into thinking if I drove an inch further in my car that it would break down immediately and cause not only my death, but the death of others! They told me that I needed a new rack and pinion without delay. being single and not knowing much about cars - I believed them. Wait, this is only where the troubles begin.
i was told the car would be ready by next day, instead I had to get a 7-day car rental (that I paid). It turned into a 7-day nightmare. I received the call that it was ready for pickup. I drove the car home. By next morning, the car would not turn. The steering was locked up. I call to report this new terror and was told to bring it back in. I was told that I would be able to pick it up later that day. That turned into a 2-day car rental (more money out of my pocket). Driving the car back home I could feel that the problem was not fixed. I went back to speak with the manager who just looked at me like a deer caught in headlights. Steve Minnix said that Rich Hughes handles that and he proceeded to disappear into a back door. I never saw him again. Rich Hughes was very rude to me speaking as if I caused the problem. He told me to leave the car with them and they'd let me know when it will be ready.
This time I decided not to leave the car within their hands. I returned a few days later with a male relative. I wanted to see if they could explain to him what they did to my car. Instead Rich Hughes had the worst attitude ever. He wanted to know why I brought someone in with me. I told him that I felt that I was getting the short end of the stick because 1. I'm a female; 2. African-American; 3. Because my car was a BMW (perhaps he thought I had some money). Mr. Hughes demanded that I leave his shop and that he was through with me. Mr,. Hughes' outburst even had the mainly white customers waiting on their cars shaking their heads in disagreement with him!
I have never returned to Precision Tune Auto Care again and never will. Out of over $2,800 not including car rental; I took my car to another auto care company. They observed that the supposed rack and pinion that Precision claimed to replace with a brand new one was indeed a cracked rack and pinion! Precision had charged me for a new rack and pinion but it was an old defective one. I had to pay for a another new rack and pinion plus the cost of labor. Ever since then my car has not given me a moment's problem. Mr. Hughes told me that it was against their policy to give the customer any parts they remove from any of their repairs.
Update: I am in the process of small claims court to seek restitution from Rich Hughes amd Steve Minnix at Precision Tune Auto Care located at 130 Jefferson Street, Newnan, GA. 30263.
When the presentation was given to you, was it given to you In a professional and understandable way? Has the shop done anything to resolve the issue to keep it from going to small claims court?
Went in talked to Daren Cortez Jefferson, Bought the premium service oil change. I left thinking everything ok.
Got down street and motor stopped due to no oil in motor, Cant remember big manager's name only assistants name,
Daren Cortez Jefferson. Big manager called Jeremy Moss and he said "No Problem" left truck there and Moss drove around and filled motor with some kind of oil from barrels at the shop. Oil Light still on. No Oil Pressure and NO POWER. Moss and Cortez are LIARS, They claim since truck had over 100k miles I needed a new truck/motor anyhow. Jeremy Moss came to my house with big manager to tell me this and all they gave me was 4-5 free oil changes? Cant remember big managers name but I remember Moss and Cortez. Daren Cortez Jefferson told me if I put CRISCO oil in motor and drive everything will be OK. He said the light oil will help the piston rings. This sucks, my wife wants to sue Moss and precisiontune.
