Bought a horse grossly misrepresented. Curt owns all the horses Charlie puts them on the net and sells. Curt also asked me to lie to Charlie about the sale price to screw his own partner out of part of his commission. I should have know if he would screw his friend he will screw anyone
I bought a horse from Curt 10 months ago and the horse died. I went back to look at other horses and bought one I thought from his ad and talking to Curt that would fit my needs. The hose cost me $7500 which he would not budge off price. He also told me to tell his partner Charlie that I only paid $7000. He didn't want to give Charlie the whole $500 commission. I should have known there if he would screw his partner he would screw is customers. I got the horse home and tried everything even hired a trainer to work with me and the horse.
He didn't load, he snorts when you halter him, he spooks at Everything, and he bucks when he's mad. according to ad this horse was used as a pick up horse and roped bulls and calves. I also had two experts look at this horse and they agree there is no way this horse was used in the PBR as advertised. I would never trust Curts word again after he screwed his own friend. He sells horses and he's done when I called him he told me "I have a lot of horses" and hung up. I don't mind someone making a profit that's why we all work. But I do have a problem with a liar.
I know for a fact this man drugs his horses. He tried to sell me a horse and the horse could barely walk and kept stumbling. When I told him I would like to have my own vet out to check this horse out, curt got mad and asked me to leave. A friend of mine bought a horse from him and the horse seemed gentle enough when she put him in the barn. The next morning, she went to check on the horse and he had destroyed her barn! His stall was in pieces and the barn door was torn off its hinges. The vet came to examine him and told her that the horse had been drugged and it was still in his system. Please have a vet check the horses out if you are willing to buy from this trader. He goes to all the big horse sales with a huge stock trailer and bids on horses that bring almost no money and sells them to slaughter! You will see him often at the Maryville Missouri horse sales. This guy will lie and cheat customers to make a dollar. Buyers Beware!!!!
I purchased 3 horses from Charlie Porter. One of the horses he said he had the registration papers for and would get them to me. This was in September 2014. As today 20 months later I still have no papers. He has all the typical excuses. The mare has been sold. The stallion has been sold. He needs them for DNA testing. Now he is saying the horse is worth more unregistered because it is a ranch breed. CHARLIE PORTER IS A LIAR AND A THIEF. Buyer beware. Never trust him. He has been suspended from the AQHA. I do not know if he has been reinstated or not as of today. Do not purchase a horse or even a bail of hay from Charlie.
Charlie talks a good game and tells you everything you want to hear. I am a beginner and was taken advantage of. This horse spooked at everything, including flakes of hay. He was so head shy that you could barely tack him up. I don’t think he had ever had a female ride him ever. Thankfully I went with my gut and never got on him because he bucked one of my good friends off from jog to lope. I sent him to a trainer and had numerous people eval him for injuries etc. His feet were terribly done and he is still bucking people off!! I sent him an email telling him what happened, asking him to take the horse back. He said “He rode fine here, we don’t take horses back.” No phone call, no apology, no nothing. Myself or one of my kids could have gotten seriously hurt. These people are as shady as they come.
I've purchased several horses from Mr Porter and from Curt. No problems. Great horses. Sometimes "Operator Error" is transferred to an easy target. Not everyone should own a horse, let alone pretend to know what they're doing a blame someone else. It's the world we live in today. "Wasn't my fault, it was his". I say dry your tears and grow up.
