Since it seems this company has entered into a business relationship with Yelp for improving their online reputation, my very detailed and negative review was not accepted, so I'm putting here on Rip Off Reports.
I find the last few reviews that are positive about Pinnacle at Talega on Yelp laughable. I'm a current resident and my email has been getting offers by Pinnacle at Talega management and marketing to do a Yelp review and win $50 for doing so. Obviously, a poor review would not receive the money. Since Pinnacle at Talega has such horrible reviews this is strategy to push down and soften all the poor reviews they have on Google reviews, Yelp and others. The last few reviews after 2-3 years of negative reviews has been a result of this apartment manager trying to dilute the poor reviews and detailed about herself.
The review about, "not moving out yet so they don't know if they'll get sucker punched with hundreds of dollars in their typical invented and junk move out fees" is funny. Brace yourself, that's what's coming.
Reputable national apartment management companies like Equity Residential have a standard paint and carpet cleaning charge they will disclose. They do not try to rip you off at move out with invented charges to increase how much revenue they generate out of every unit. Pinnacle At Talega mangement claims they do not know what their typical move out costs are (assuming there is no damages of course) and it they will charge you based on some secret formula they refuse to talk about. Is it any wonder many people in online reviews claimed they were screwed and got charged ridiculous move out fees?
Before I moved in I brushed aside all the negative reviews and horror stories about the Pinnacle at Talega in San Clemente, CA. Everything in all the bad reviews turned out to be true. I full expect a dummy list of invented repairs list that will be hundreds of dollars and approaching $1,000 even though we've kept the apartment in immaculate condition.
Since they do everything on the cheap, I recently receive many warnings by BRE Property (company that owns Pinnacle At Talega) that their computer database was broken into and all resident's social security numbers and other personal information someone needs to steal your identity has been stolen. Perhaps if they had invested in a competent tech person and/or proper firewall the hundreds of residents here wouldn't have to live in fear of who out there any where in the world might have their social security number all personal information.
They wouldn't be the first company have criminals penetrate their database, however, this slap in the face is consistent with everything else I've seen a Pinnacle At Talega. The management of their security systems is consistent with everything else. That is profit maximizing by reducing their costs to the lowest possible and extracting the most amount of rent at every opportunity, junk/unwarranted move out fees. Property is managed by poorly like it's small mom and pop duplex. Property management skills like poor people skills, poor tenant relations, poor interpersonal demeanor, following through with verbal agreements and promises, rudeness, laziness, profit maximizing at the cost of having a poor reputation in the community and blaming the residents for the problems vs. professional management skills expected of a apartment community of this size. Then the leasing staff who doesn't know hardly anything and has to refer back the manager for for every question and still can't give you a straight answer.
The maintenance staff is very good, polite and work hard. They promptly come out when you need a repair, but that is expected and a normal standard.
Avoid this place. It is very poorly managed. They don't care about you after you sign the lease and move in. After you move in they're only concerned about these reviews and controlling what you see in reviews of Pinnacle at Talega when prospective tenants are checking them out.
