Robbie tried to sell us an adult cat that was under contract to it's original breeder without notification to that breeder for their approval or first right of refusal. Now they have our money and we don't have the cat.
We would like some suggestions of how to get our money back without having to involve attorneys....and throwing more money away.
Persians of Jewel Vaughn aka Robbie & Julie Vaughn did not ship kitten and would not refund my money. It was a battle all of the way through and like the others, I had to file a claim with Paypal and credit card companies. Robbie made sure he dragged out the process just long enough to scam us to a point where it was almost imposssible to get the money back. (FDIC law states once it's past 6 months, your credit card issuer doesn't have to apply a chargeback. Paypal's deadline is 90 days).
A couple of things that I found out about them, after the fact, is that they are NOT a LLC as they so list on their website and through Paypal. You can go to the KY Secretary of State and search every known alias of this "cattery" and you will not find them listed as an active or dormant LLC. Should Robbie & Julie decide to incorporate their LLC after this posting, be sure to check the date as to when it was created. Listing your business as an LLC when you aren't, is fraud in itself.
Robbie lists his employment on LinkedN as Persians of Jewels Vaughn, with his employment ending at the KY Mental Health Department in October 2013. He (or "Cliff") will probably conveniently change this once he sees this. Why is this important or relevant? Because during his many "attempts" to ship the kittens/cats he often used his employment as a reason for delays in shipping.
I've also noticed that POJV uses the same kitten pictures over and over and you rarely see pictures of available kittens over 2 weeks old on his website. Also, if you look at his pedigrees, you will find inconsistencies in them as well.
Other things that I found during this scam was that at times it felt like I was talking to 3 different people. Initially, when I emailed or spoke with Robbie on the phone he had good grammar and writing skills. Near the end, he often mispelled words or created odd sentences that really didn't make sense. His and Julie's later emails were full of threats, some pretty scary, to a point where I almost filed a report with the local police department.
The new USDA laws were created to protect buyers from these type of scammers, if you were a victim please notify them as well as CFA. This is fraud on a Federal level as well.
A good breeder doesn't treat his clients this way.
They are selling their kittens to people and then not shipping the kittens and refusing any refunds !
i have talked with a couple other people and they have experienced the same problem. we are all now reporting them to the CFA and are working with the credit card companies to get our monies back. It has been a very long and stressful 6 months for all of us.
Please be careful when dealing with this breeder if you have experienced this please report it to the CFA.
I to bought a kitten from Robbie Vaughn in Feburary 2014. For the first month I recieved weekly email updates and photos. After that he totally drop out of communication. After a month of nothing I was getting worried so I started texting him wanting a update and new photos like he promised in the contract. I was given wrong information about the date of birth up until I picked the kitten up. I live close enough that I could find them if needed. When Robbie finally did contact me he said his father had passed away and that was the reason he was not responding. The man I met to pick up the kitten is not the man on the web site. I also got a run around about the pick up date. I was very persistent. When I met to pick up the kitten she had no hair on her ears at all. So she must have had ear mites or something. She was 10 weeks old.But she is well now and the sweetest little girl I could have ask for. I would never do business with them again but I'm glad I have her.
