A lady calling herself Daniel Russell called me from Performance Recovery claiming to be representing the US Treasury Dept. When I told her that I had recently spoken to a US Gov. Official and was advised that no outside subcontractors are EVER used to collect for the US Government she became a little hostile. She swore she was hired by the US Treasury to recover an old SBA loan.
Now why would the most powerful collection agency in America call little old Performance Recovery Inc to do their dirty work? So I asked her for her information ( So that I can report her) and she said she was calling form California. But the caller ID said she was calling from Illinois. She didn't have an answer for that one. lol
She called form phone # 541-955-7800 but gave me a call back # of 888-310-2003
I firmly believe that these people are NOT legally representing the US Treasury Dept and she did have all my information right there. She told me to call the US Treasury and verify but its well known that its almost impossible to call the US Treasury Dept. All you get is Automated cues and messages. So I think she knew that.
Performance Recovery is shady at best and I don't see how they have a good rating with the BBB. I think its becasue more people need to take a moment and report them right here on a BBB site.
I am now paying twice on my student loan because I agreed to their payment plan to keep my taxes. Now I still have to pay them and I already lost my taxes to my student loan company...
My state income tax bill was turned over to Performant Recovery Inc for payment not callected. I had set up a payment plan with Performant. Payment plan was in place and making payments on time for 5 to 6 months.
Now Performant refuses to take my payment. They will not return phone calls/messages.
Performant Recovery Inc. is a collection agency contracted by several federal clients to take care of their buisness. I know they are legit, I had a student loan that went into collections after i lost my job and they set me up w a program to get it out of default so I could defer my loan. Not only that, but I recieved benefits such as my taxes were no longer being taken and getting out if default! They are not a scam. They are a legit collection agency contracted by many federal government lenders. If you don't pay, they can legally further your acct for like wage garnishment and taking ur taxes. Without your permission and without going to court. Its totally legal. Just answer your phone! They're just trying to help.

They let me know I was defaulted but and informed me I could stop having my wages garnished... and I set up an Income based payment with Jessica at performant and she was lovely. I am so happy to have gotten this taken care of once and for all. My wages stopped being garnished after 5 payments and I am now off the tax offset List thanks to Performant.
