I had been injured at work and was out on workman's comp for almost a year and a half. I needed to refinance my home
to pay down my debt, and I got in touch with Peoples Bank. At first theyThen were giving lip service, oh yes, we qualified, they could do the loan. All we needed to do was pay the $695 for the appraisal. The appraisal came back less than we expected so they said we could not get quite the amt we wanted.
Then when they learned my income was from workmans comp they stated they could not do the loan at all, because lenders do not take that as income. I believe that is against Federal law as no one is allowed to discriminate if a portion of the income is from welfare.
Anyway I shortly went back to work, called them and they again started working on it. They took forever to get the title insurance, and it was so discusting because the attorney I had used to get the title cleared wanted to charge me additional funds to meet their requirements. Fortunately the company they used to get the insurance knew what they were doing.
Finally we got the last thing I thought we needed, they had every bit of paper work they needed, then all of a sudden they needed "updated" financial information, and another appraisal, for another $695.00, because they had taken so long the appraisal had "expired".
After all of this I just told them to forget it, that I felt like this was a scam from the beginning, they probably were not a direct lender, which was the first question I asked them, and all they have been doing is giving me the run around wasting my time when I really needed to get my refinance done. I have over $100,000 in equity and they could not get me a dime.
A very disappointing experience. MY ADVISE IS TO STAY AWAY!!! THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING, THEY WILL WASTE YOU TIME AND MONEY, NOT DEPENDABLE, NOT KNOWLEDGEABLE, A TOTAL RIP OFF.
We were at the last week to sign papers on the house we was going to buy when the banker called us to say the loan didn't go through. When we checked on them because we didn't understand why it didn't go through we found out they lied about so many things. It wouldn't have went through to began with. They kept telling us if we forked out money for this and that it was our house. They had our landlord sign documents that were lies and we even signed papers that were lies no knowing they were doing wrong. We paid for a appraisal (495.00 that should've been done earlier in the prosses), at the last minute. This was our first time trying to get a house. They put us in about a 5000.00 hole and now the house is gone cause they messed it up so bad we can't even start again till we fix it. They get up the hope of middle class people and then stomp on them. Please save your money and don't go to them for a loan.
