Peaklife has a product called Sommapure for sleep. They advertise all nautral ingredients and just how wonder a product it is. They even offer you a 25 day free sample for only a small shipping charge. This is how they get your credit card number.
Low and behold a couple weeks later, your credit card is charge for a full month supply even though you did not order it.
Called and talked with two customer service reps and both say cannot refund full amount back as I would have to pay for the shipping on the month's supply sent out and then pay for the shipping to send the product back. That would be a total of
$10.00. The first C.S. rep was a man whose name I couldn't even pronounce and he was very rude and not helpful.
I called back and spoke with Sarah Chewchuk who was more pleasant, but she basically stated the same nonsense. Advised them this was nothing but a scam and I would be filing a dispute with my bank and would also be adding my negative report to Ripoffs already several reports on this company.
Also advised Sarah that she find another job with a company that doesn't use fraudulent tactics to make money.
Peak Life. Stupid me. I thought I was getting sample of Sleep Aid for 2.99. I felt I was tricked into authorizing monthly shipments. I should have gone on line to Ripoff.com.
I called the call center to complain. Choices: I can sent it back. Pay my own shipping costs. And I can get a full credit less shipping costs in 4 to 6 weeks. Or suck it up, keep the product and I get a 60% refund.
I don't even know if product works because I have not tried it.
I seemed like a good idea to use a natural product rather FDA approved chemicals to induce sleep.
What is wrong w FDA or our government that there is no oversight for health and nutritional products?
I recieved an email from Peak Life in early May of 2014 offer a free samle of the sleep aid Somnapure. The message stated that all I needed to do was pay the shipping of #2.99. I had it sent to my sister who has had a long standing sleep problem. She got it and tried it and found it of no help. Shortly after she was hospitalized for several weeks. Upon her return she discovered two more bottles of the product had arrived.
She notified me of this at which time I check my credit are bill and found I had been charged $34.95 for each bottle. I contacted Peak Life telling them I had not ordered anything except the "free" sample. I was told that when I ordered the sample the "terms and conditions" clearly stated that I would begin receiving one bottle per month unless I cancelled within 18 days.
I went back to the web site and sure enough this was stated in what is literally fine print, so small it was hard for me to read. My sister is quite certain there was nothing in the package with the sample indicating ne need to cancel in order to avoid getting more product.
Peack did agree to refund me $29.99 for the most recent bottle but informed me that I was over the 30 day return time which wa also mentioned in the terms and conditions. They were totally unsympathetic to the circumstances of my sister being hospitalized and the product going to her rather than to me. I was told that they "could not" refund me anything on the first bottle.
I understand that what they have done is "legal" and that I was remiss in not noticing that there were terms and conditions but I feel they went to some effort not to make their policies more apparent. The free sample should have had a clear message attached indicating the need to cancel within 18 days. I read of nearly 200 complaints similar to mine on another complaint site (Pisssed Customer). Some of the complaints stated the product was not good, the sleep aid may work for some people but did nothing for my sister.
I challened the charge with Discover Card and filed a complaint with the Montana Consumer Protection Sevice but fear the Peak will hold fast to their defendable legal position. I doubt this cmplaint will help but it may alert someone else to the way this company works to get your credit card information. I am a bit surprised that Peak is not listed as one of the companies with complaints.
When I was on the internet reading news stories, a story was listed as a new health product with remarkable results was being sold at CVS stores. I later realized that this was not a news story, but a product advertisement. But the advertisement looked like a news story. I clicked on the story and a Peak Life free sample advertisement came on my screen. The ad basically offered to send 14 somnapure tablets for a free trial. The add requested you to pay a $2.99 shipping cost for the free trial.
I signed up for the free trial and found the product did not work for me.
18 days later I received a package with a second bottle of Somnapure. I check my on-line credit card statement and now they charged me $34 dollars for the second bottle. I found the ad and found at the bottom of the ad in small print "terms".
I read the terms and it stated if you did not notify them after 18 days after the free trial order they would send you monthly bottles of somnapure at cost.
Normallly when I order something they ask you to check a box accepting the terms, which I did not.
I called their help number (1-877-8693304) and after a twenty minute hold they answered. I asked to have my MVP customer status cancelled. The operater tried to keep me as a customer and offed me several offers on the product. Finally I had to tell her I lost my job and could not afford the product, and then she agreed to cancel my subscription. I then asked about their complicated return policy, and she finally agreed to reimbuse me $17 dollars to my credit card .
This company is a ripoff company. They should be reported to thre better buisiness office.
I signed up for thier auto ship program becuse I believed all the lies on thier web site. After I found that the product did not work, I shipped the bottle back and ask for credit on my card. Not only did they not refund my money, they shipped out another bottle and again charged my card. They sent me a letter that I needed to continue taking the product for it to work.
After talking to what they call ""cuctomer service"" telling me they could only refund one bottle and making no progress in resolving the problem, I gave up. Just to make sure they would not sneek out another bottle, I had my credit card cancelled and a new number issued to me. As of this date no refund has come to me.
This company is totall unethical and I suggest you don't make any purchases thru thier web site. I see that thier products are in Walgreen & CVS pharmacy.
