My husband and I shopped around for a long time before finally settling on PDQ POS. What followed for the next 5 months was a nightmare for any business owner until we finally bit the bullet and had the system torn out and replaced with a cheaper and more reliable system. (which would seem to be any of them) We are still on the hook with the leasing company for $20,500 plus interest but to be rid of PDQ POS and Signature Systems was worth it. We are contemplating legal action like I have seen a lot of other people say, but who has time for that when you are trying to run a business?
First, the menu wasn't done nearly the way it was supposed to be, despite the salesman telling us "we have done this before" and arguing that they know more about how the menu than me and my husband who have owned our restaurant for more than 17 years. When the guy finally came to install after weeks of delays with the menu he didn't have any idea how to even use the system, he spent two days in our way because he needed to be there when we were open, and left wires all over the place. Many of them didn't work since the day they were put in. He didn't know how to fix any of the error codes that popped up over and over and shutting the whole system down. He kept apologizing for not knowing anything and having to call for help and I felt bad for him, but this was a terrible way to start off a business relationship, and them wanting us to sign a contract for another $1400 every year for their terrible service on their defective and worthless system.
Second, almost everything in the manager menu said "coming soon" like it is only a half-made system. Nothing was working the way it was supposed to and we had to figure out little tricks to get it to print when doing deliveries. It was just bad, bad, bad all around.
After having them back 6 or 7 times in the first couple weeks to fix problems, they began refusing to come back out to us and kept insisting they could fix everything over the phone. I'm sorry, but when a printer won't print after having 5 different people work on it and moving it all over the restaurant, there is something wrong that can't be fixed over the phone. And when the screens keep freezing up when we are at out busiest times there is something wrong with them. I'm no computer expert but even I know that. We also had to have 2 of the screens replaced because they were defective, one of them need to be replaced twice, and even after all that they still kept freezing up over and over again.
The final straw was when orders kept getting lost and we were getting complaints every night from the customers. We even lost some of our customers that have been with us for years because of PDQ POS and Signature Systems. Then the lost a catering order for a long time customer's party and that was it.
Just do yourself a favor and steer clear of them unless you want to run your business into the ground. PDQ POS from Signature Systems is the worst restaurant POS ever made.
