Buyer Beware! Payless buys junk, does not test it and passes the junk on to consumers with an underwhelming 48 hour "warranty". Anytime a retailer does harm to his customer, it is bad for both. in this case, it was a $300 stackable washer dryer combo which we purchased in full faith it would work. turns out it never worked, leaked badly and our installer advised it is a "piece of junk". We are trying to help a friend by replacing a similar broken machine, so we hoped buying a "new" used machine would help her. Unfortunately, the "48 hour warranty" took longer than the time we had to hook it up and run it through its first cycle because we are trying to do many things to help our friend. in any case, in my view, the store should not be selling equipment it has not, at least, tested.
I read the warning about these people on Craigslist but I didn't pay attention and guess what it happened to me.
I bought a refrigerator, washer and dryer that Payless had advertised on Craigslist. When I called Payless I spoke to Pearl she told me all three appliances where 4 years old and to come to the store to pay for them so they could be delivered the next day.
I got to the store and asked if I could test them because the ad states that you can test the appliances in the store, I was told they had already pulled them from the floor so that no one else could buy them. I told them I did not feel safe to purchase them without testing them, Pearl told me that they were tested again just before they were hauled to the back, she also told me they would deliver, set up and test the appliances at my house.
I asked her again about the age and was told all 3 appliances were 4 years old, so I paid and signed the receipt.
Next day-no delivery, I called 14 times to the store, was given so many different excuses I forgot some of them. I called Toni on her number, she was so rude, screamed at me and told me they do not give refunds for any reason and I would just have to wait for the delivery and that she didn't care and than hung up on me.
2nd day, no delivery, so I started calling again, basically no one cared, they didn't want to hear it, anyway on the 3rd day I received my appliances in my driveway in the afternoon. I heard some noise looked out and the delivery guy was pretty much just dumping them out of his truck.
I asked him if he was going to bring them in my house and set them up and test them as I was promised, he told me NOPE, got other deliveries to make and that he didn't even know how to hook up the washer.
I called Toni back she didn't even let me finish my story before she hung up on me-again.
Istarted looking at the appliances and noticed that they were not the appliances I had purchased, not even close so I checked the serial numbers and found out they are 9 years old not 4 years old, called the office and was told that I was crazy, got hung up on again.
I have called them over 40 times, they don't care and usually hang up on me.
