I had the unfortunate experience of renting my in law house to this woman starting May 1, 2014 and there were problems from the get go. I showed her the unit and she had seen it before and there was no refrigerator. I described the arragements in detail such as common laundry, utility split, back yard and 1 car garage and agreed to take a reduction from the $1,000 i was asking to $850 and no security deposit against my better judgement and not charge eth usual extra fee for a horse. A couple of days after agreeing on everything she asks me is i would consider an added tenant, an acquaintance of hers who was homeless who would pay the added $150/m.
Well that lasted about 1 month until he totally melted down and left...no big deal. The real problem started when PJ did not have a refrigerator...not noticing one was not included or in the house when she agreed to rent it and she asked if she coudl share mine. There was no way that was gonna happen as there is no room when i stock up. I agreed to let her use my old freezer but told her it was on the market and soon woudl be sold and also lent her a small frig with the understanding she would get her own and return it. That never happened. I also insisted the house was strictly non smoking.
I also asked that tgate backyard gates be pinned in place to avoid damage when the sudden, frequent high winds happen here. Another big problem from the start is she was helping herself to anything and everything of mine in the garage without asking mind you at any time she felt the need. I explained that it is common courtesy to ask and i wasonly renting the in law quarters not evreything else...finally got throug on that one i think. Then came the "can you give me a ride requests" and i finally had to spell it out for her "i am not yoru mother and all that you are asking is not part of the program".
Then came teh broken bubbler incident with horse hoof prints all around it and since i do not own a horse adn Monty Python's Holy Grail is not filming here with coconuts it had to be her house with never a mention or a word, aoplogy or offer to fix. It wore on me for over a week and since other things were being discussed i thought this as an appropriate moment. Despite the obvious PJ denied her horse (or Monty Python) had done the deed and suggested it was me! Bear in mind all that needed to be doen is to replace a rizer (5 minute job) but it was the principal of the matter. Then i find my cactus along the front gate are being trampled and mess wind/sun gaurd is becomin un attached. PJ says all of these things are normal wear and tear adn she is not responsible. She is a pathological liar and will say anything to weasel out of taking any responsibility.
Then came the day, about a week ago, the last straw (but there were other stupid things doing things without asking or not returning things in the same condition etc) the gate was left open and not pinned she. I politely told PJ how import it was to pin the gate and have the pin to the right and all the way up so as not to damage anything (which was occuring) and she had a fit and was very sarcastic and mocking. At that point i had had quite enough and told her 'everything is an arguement with you and you have an excuse for everything and if she was not happy she should pack her stuff and leave. After discussing it with my wife we decided PJ had to go. There is so much more but i will spare you the details...bottom line: LIES, EXCUSES, PRESUMPTIONS THAT SHOULD NOT BE MADE, UNCOOPERATIVE AND ARROGANT, CLUELESS, and IT HAS PROGESSIVELY GONE DOWNHILL FROM THERE. Now she refuses to return my refrig. So I repeat: Dont rent to this insane woman, Dont employ her, Dont trust her.
