My husband, three children and I moved to Tampa, FL from Morgantown, WV. We contacted Joy & Janet at Willow Creek Mobile Home Park located in Tampa, FL. We wired her a $499.00 deposit. Also, my mother, sister, and her 2 children moved with us to get they're own mobile home at Willow Creek and wired a $499.00 deposit. We rented a 26' U-Haul truck to move our furniture to Tampa, FL. Also, to mention we have three dogs. When we arrived at Willow Creek Mobile home and was greeted by Joy, and Janet we paid our 1st months rent and so did my mother on her mobile home. As we were moving all our furniture in the units we noticed a lot of problems like the doors and windows were all broke, kitchen cabinet doors falling off the hinges, cracks in the walls and ceiling. Window air conditioning blowing out hot air. After moving all our furniture and boxes it was getting night fall. Joy said our monthly rent will be $1,300.00 per month each for me, and my mother. This was not the agreement we made by phone and e-mail, the rent was to be around $800.00 per month. Later! that night the kitchen stove caught fire and roaches, and cockroaches were crawling everywhere. The fire department was called, and no smoke detectors. The Health Department came the next day, and said this home isn't livable and it is unsafe to live in. Next! The managers Joy, and Janet told us we had to vacate the property and leave the premises. Joy, and Janet said they have another mobile home park about 40 miles away in Hudson, FL. And, they have two mobile homes move in ready at Forest Green Mobile Home. We were told to see a woman at Forest Green in Hudson named Sunday. We got another rental truck loaded up and headed on over to meet Mrs. Sunday..... She had no ideal who we were, and was confused - Mrs. Sunday claims she has nothing available at this time. We were now considered homeless at this point. Joy, Janet, and Sunday work under a man by the name Paul Chad Comingore who owns these properties. I want to file a civil lawsuit against the owner and take action, I want my money back! I will join forces with anyone else who was ripped off by this company.
Being new to Tampa, my boyfriend and I found Willow Creek Mobile Home Rentals on Craigslist. We knew nothing of the history of the property or it's owner. On Friday, January 2, 2015, I inquired about a rental lot at Willow Creek Mobile Home Park at 8536 Honeywell Road. Lot #72. The representative named Tiffany Wyatt quickly walked us through the mobile home stating it would be cleaned and carpet replaced before we moved in. We later returned to place our deposit down, and Tiffany Wyatt stated that the unit had been cleaned. We paid a $800 cash deposit towards Lot #72. She gave us the key and we went directly to Lot #72. Upon our entrance, dozens and dozens of roaches of all sizes were all over the place from the refrigerator, to the microwave, all of the cabinets, the bed, bathroom sinks, blinds, lighting fixtures, etc. There were so many that they were crawling up our legs and falling form the ceiling. We immediately vacated and went back to the office and informed Tiffany Wyatt of the situation. She simply stated that she would spray. We left and went to Walmart and purchased foggers and additional spray. When we returned (which was all within an hour), none of the roaches had died and there were even more roaches than before. We went back to the office and told Tiffany of the severity of the roach infestation. I explained to Tiffany that this was not only a health hazard due to the large amount of roach feces which can cause breathing problems, but that the lot was totally uninhabitable. We asked for our deposit back, which we had just handed to her not even an hour beforehand, but Tiffany stated that she could not retrieve our deposit because it was locked in a safe that she did not have access to. She gave us an lame explanation as to why the lot was so filthy (blaming previous tenants), and apologized. The premises were filthy, with a toilet seat that had been taped together with black electrical tape and roaches along with their feces everywhere. The unit was never cleaned as she said it would be. The unit was absolutely unacceptable, uninhabitable, and posed a dire threat to our health and well-being. Tiffany Wyatt gave us a form that directed us to write a letter to the "corporate office" which is no more than a p.o. box at a UPS Store, and said we would get a full refund since we did not move one item of our belongings into Lot #72, nor did we spend longer than 30 minutes there. We returned the key and Tiffany Wyatt stated that she would vouch for our refund since we did not move in. We wrote an letter as the form directed us to and we tried to contact the "corporate office". Tiffany Wyatt answered the phone after several attempts to contact the company. She totally stonewalled us on the phone and hung up in my face. We only want our deposit of $800 back, in full, and have kindly requested so with no reply from anyone in their "corporate office." I decided to conduct some research on the owner, Paul Chad Comingore, and found numerous complaints just like ours online where people had been scammed out of their money and stonewalled. There is a pattern with this guy and his properties and should be fully investigated. I spoke with an attorney and he stated that we should first file a complaint with the BBB. I am doing so that our monies can be returned to us in a timely manner and in full. I strongly suggested that this company be investigated for illegal activity and the scamming of hardworking individuals like myself. The conditions of these "homes" are deplorable and should be inspected by a housing inspector to condemnation. There is no way that our calls should be ignored and there should definitely be a point of contact for the corporate office. I would love to band together with others like myself that have been scammed by Paul Chad Comingore and his company. Please feel free to contact me so that we may combine our stories to expose this scam artist.
