This place is the worse place I have ever lived. When we first moved back to Florida from Indiana in February 2015, we were hoping to get a place we could call home after a long battle of receiving my disability. When we first came to Forest Green Mobile Park, the property manager told us rent would be $895 per month by phone for a 3 bedroom. After the manager had finished the paperwork, it stated that we had to pay $236.36 per week for a period of twenty weeks to finish a deposit of $200. If rent is $895 per month and I am paying $236.36 a week, which is a total of $945.44 per month based on four weeks. In the month of May, there were 5 weeks which totaled $1181.80. In the months since I have been there, a total of $200 should be paid off.
Upon looking at the residence, we noticed the remnants of cockroaches and some were crawling in the lid of the dishwasher. The property manager told me that they provide monthly pest control but the person that was living here before wouldn't let her come in to do it and she would do it for us. We did move in that night as we were staying at a hotel in Clearwater until we could find a place to call home. I have pictures of all the cockroaches in the house that evening. There were 38 just on one wall alone. We went to the office the next business day and told her how bad it really was. She said she would do weekly pest control until it was under control. She never came for the weekly she promised. She did complete the monthly for March and May, but that's it. I had cockroaches bedding in my Bible my father bought me. It's horrible. We have laid out multiple traps, hotels, the works. It's still out of control.
Shortly after moving in, we noticed our hot water heater not working properly. It wouldn't work long enough to fill a bathtub with water for a warm bath, let alone a hot one. It took approximately 6 weeks to get them to come and fix it. The maintenance guy came. He was doing something. I don't know what because it didn't work. After many more multiple attempts, they finally decided to come and try again while I was in Indiana for a family emergency. The property manager told me by phone that it had a calcium build up and it was now fixed. I didn't say anything about not being in my home while I was out of state because I was just happy that it was finally fixed....well it still doesn't work.
They replaced the batteries for the smoke alarms with dead ones when you first move in so dealing with the constant beeping is a bit aggravating. They admitted they had gotten a bad batch but still haven't brought me a new one and it's been 5 months.
When we got back from Indiana from our family emergency, we noticed our air conditioning wasn't working properly. The air was set on 74 and the thermostat said 88. My fiance went to tell the property manager and when he told her it wasn't working right and it's probably frozen, all she said was "Yeah, you're probably right". It's been over a month and our air still doesn't work right and they have made no attempt to fix it.
The police activity in this park is insane. The property manager herself decided to have a party with a bunch of friends over at 1:30 a.m. shortly after us moving in and the police were called because her guests were threatening a resident that lived next to where they were at the park/pool. My daughter has been bullied to the extent that I sent her to live with her father until we get moved. Most of the kids in this park just do whatever they want and you can't talk to the parents.
We are now being evicted for non payment of rent. I am not fighting the eviction because we want to move, I am just asking for a couple weeks. But I don't feel this eviction should go on my credit because I don't feel this is my fault.
I feel as a consumer, I am paying someone rent to take care of the basic necessities of the home. If I had the finances to fix the things myself, I would buy a house. When landlords expect you to keep them paid, but don't want to fix anything, I think it's completely wrong and that's exactly what's happening here. Read everything and if you plan on moving here, at least get EVERYTHING in writing. For example, if they say they'll be there Monday, don't take their word for it....have then put it in writing...for your own good.
