The worst aspect of Mr. Tenore’s M.O. is his uncanny inclination to put his commission profits above the interests of all else – his clients and other agents. When he talks someone into letting him list their home/property he posts the listing on the MLS; but he does not show to his seller offers coming in from other realtors [even when those offers are higher than the ones Tenore obtains]. This enables him to find a buyer he can represent and take both sides of the commission. It’s called ‘Double-Ending’ a deal.
It gets worse. If a realtor complains about Mr. Tenore’s unethical/illegal practices Tenore threatens them with his attorneys and filings with the BRE and CAR – the very organizations whose purpose is to regulate real estate transactions and prevent people like Mr. Tenore essentially committing fraud.
The victims in these cases are the sellers, who are likely to not get the best price/terms for the sale of their property, and the licensed agents who pay large fees to belong to CAR and the MLS in order to be able to sell listings posted by another realtor. Typically such business conduct should get reported to the BRE and CAR by the injured agent; however, Mr. Tenore beats them to the punch and files complaints against such agents for “harassing and interfering” with his business. Mr. Tenore also threatens them with “I have Connections” – which has creepy overtones - like is he implying physical harm or financial/professional ruin to some unfortunate agent without the resources of Mr. Tenore.
