I received an e-mail telling me an employer was interested and wanted to have a pre-screening interview done. I received a link to a web address and after completion I would be able to set up an in-person interview.
The job was for a financial institutions call center and therefore I was not shocked to see a request for a credit check. It was unusual to have to give the registration number. I did subscribe, submitted the report and immediately cancelled it again.
Then I started researching the address of the employment agency: Parker & Jefferson, 1200 Smith Street, Houston, Texas 77002 (no suite number given). No tenant by that name is in the building. The phone number only goes to an answering machine, telling you all representatives are busy assisting other customers.
I smelled something funny, called CreditReport.com again, had an alert put on; filed a fraud Alert on all of the credit reporting agencies, informed my bank, put a fraud alert on it, and alerted all of the credit card companies I have cards with. I am debating at the moment if I should alert the FBI.
Unfortunately I checked to late with RipoffReport.com since somebody filed under Simpson and Scott an identical e-mail to mine in April 2014. Here is mine:
I have received your application for the opening 'Call Center Position

I also received the same response after 'passing' my initial pre-screening interview the other poster received.
The only tipoff was the unusual well paid position! Job Seekers beware! I will have to monitor all of my information very closely for a very long time.
