I spoke with Admissions Representative David Mutt at Pacific Coast Trade School, regarding admissions to a welding program. He informed me the program was $15k and I should be able to get student loans or grants etc. to help pay for it. It sounded good to me but wasnt completely sold on the school.
I came back to a week or so later to sign up and register for the program, and David informed me that they school was being audited and its students arent currently eligable for financial aid, I was ready to walk out and he offered me $2k off of the program if I could pay in full. I was able to but was hesitant to do so. I probed for more information and he told me it was through a family and friends discount. The catch was I would be paying him directly not the school. Huge Red Flag!
I went home and did some more research on the school as well as talked to a few of the students, none of them were eligable for financial aid, but the school is reported as having over 98% of its students recieving some financial aid. With a total student population of about 200 only 4 people wouldnt have recieved some. I ultimately decided to to attend the school. clearly something was up. I personally believe its a cover for financial aid fraud.
