If you go to thedevilcorp.wordpress.com you will find a plethora of links to news reports, government rulings, lawsuits and video footage showing how these people do business.
In 2013, I had an interview at a company called Troy International. It turned out to be a door-to-door sales scam. I did a lot of research and found out a lot about Troy International and it's shady owner, Jason Malone. I wrote a lengthy post about Troy International and Jason Malone that got a lot of attention (I highly reccomend you read the entire thing). In my post I also showed how Troy International was connected to other direct sales/outsourced marketing companies, including Northstar Consulting Group, Polaris, The Henry Group, EQM, EQ New York, Worldwide Marketing, The BBB Conglomerate and Noble Solution. These companies are all part of the Cydcor/DS-Max sales cult. These companies often shut down when enough people started talking about them online. They often restart under new names.
Recently I noticed Troy International's website was down. So I did some Googling and found that there is a new company at Troy International's old address called Outsourced Marketing Group. Just from reading the website, you can tell it's another direct sales/outsourced sales scam. Some telltale signs include:
Vague and negligible descriptions of what the company exactly does
Showcasing the company's clients but no real mention of what they company did for these clients
No mention of any of the company's directors
Social media (Facebook and Twitter) pages full of cheesey motiviational quotes, but nothing about the company's actual accomplishments
When I wrote my post on Troy International, one of their employees, a man named Matthew Roome, commented on it:
"Sad to see such comments. I have been working with Troy for the past 6 months. I am currently a corporate trainer and have an awesome team of 3 people who I interviewed and trained in the entre-level side of our company.
...we have Fortune 500 clientele constantly offering bonuses as our branches continuously expand...We are a direct marketing firm…Face to face sales. Our reps sell 5-7 times the amount per week than our client does internally. That’s why they outsource their sales to us because we’re good at it and have aggressive client aquisition abilities. Any marketing firm pays commission. We get paid upon account approval. If you prefer to sit on a capped salary and be “stable”… Go ahead and get a job working in a cubical or a fast food restaurant… Which most of you will probably end up doing, unfortunately.
We have B2B (“business to business” for you business illiterate folk) and residential campaigns. The reason several managers will share an office space is because 1. It cuts the excess office space cost and 2. It enables teams from different campaigns to interact and learn from each other. We do not only have 5 or 6 affiliated offices. Each office is its own legal entity, part of the “Smart circle” network. We have over 700 offices internationally. We actually have a national conference in Philadelphia, PA this Saturday. There should be about 3000 people there along with the Vice Presidents from Verizon, AT&T, Pivotal Payments, Comcast, direct energy and many other clients. Guys like that don’t mess with scams. They use their common sense and invest where they will have 100% return on investment.
If you were unable to hang and generate income for yourself, sorry about that. We look for managers and people with student mentalities. We are definitely NOT looking for kids who feel like they’re entitled to a cubical in Manhattan and $75,000 a year fresh out of college. Welcome to the real world…. you gotta earn your stripes here kids… and they DO NOT come easy.
Feel free to give me a call anytime guys – 530.320.5209 (CA area code)"
You can see from Matt Roome's LinkedIn profile and see that he is now a corporate trainer at Outsourced Marketing Group. But he removed any mention of Troy International on his profile.
My final message: Don't get suckered by Outsourced Marketing Group. It's a soul-crushing door-to-door sales job that probably won't make you any money. You work on commission so you are only paid if you sell. You are also an independant contractor so the company will NOT provide insurance or other benefits. It's run by a group of sleazy people who prey on desperate job seekers. Don't waste your time with these losers.
