In Oct 2014 I had a knot removed from the inside of my mouth after an accident. My dentist told me he wanted to send it to the lab but I would be resposible for the charges I have good insurance in the past I have NEVER had to pay more than $68.
When I recieved the bill from the Oral Pathology Associates, Inc, it was for over $300, I could not believe it, I am on a budget and I guess they figure everyone just has this money laying around. They do not send it to the insurance that is my resposiblitiy I did send it in and my insurance paid me 125 of the 330, that still leave me paying out of pocket 205 dollars.First of all I could not believe that my dentist sent it to California, as I live in Texas and there are many Path labs right around the corner. The the price of what they charged. I strongly believe they are grossly over charging their customers. I have had a biospy in the past and like I said my cost was $68.
I will know better the next time I go to the dentist be sure to ask what lab they are sending it to.
This pathology lab charged a lot and kind of cheating. At first you are told by your dentist's assistant your insurance will probably cover it then, the she also has you sign a waiver form you will be totally responsible for the lab bill, but don't explain you anything. Then come a big lab bill and the lab's stuff are very rude. They said they won't bill insurance company and you should pay, even they theaten you. The dentist is Thomas Yong oral surgenry. I think he is a agent of this lab though I don't know how much kickback he can get from the lab.
