About a month ago I needed to send opt in only marketing newsletter to future customers. We purposely only purchase lists that customers have purchased from under the same categories, as they accept newsletters of these types of products. When we purchased them from Omega One Marketing we were assured they were opt-in only. It was quite another when the newsletter was sent out. We had purchased only 2,00 addresses, however the newsletters were stopped only 349 into it as over 50% of them were bounced and blocked. In other words the list was not opt in. They were not cleaned and even more so when we started to look at the bounces, some weren’t even full addresses.
When we got the message from our email server, we sent the list to a company to "clean" it. When we got the results back of what was actually deliverable, we were astonished to see that just over half were actual addresses. Only over 800 could be sent.
We tried to send those through our service and they immediately rejected. We then tried to send through two other well-known services and they were rejected as well. When we contacted the most well known of them (CC are the initials) they told us that of those just over 800 more than a 1/4 of them were either bounced or on a no contact list.
After receiving this we contacted Omega One and told them and they said what are you complaining for that meant that over 400 could be sent by "the right type of email server." Basically, a server that SPAMs people. When I told him that was not what we had wanted and they knew that, the response was "so, that is normal." They then told us that we would not be getting any money back. We went back and forth and were told numerous times by them that, in spite of what their site says, they only provide generic lists.
Basically, they are liars. We tried to fight it with PayPal, however since the item was intangible they could not help. So here we are. I realize that we got ripped off, but nobody else should from these fly by night guys.
