I'm dismayed of what has transpired between my friends and this host. As soon as we walked into the hostel he looked annoyed because we woke him up. Well I'm sorry; but isn't this his job? He then immediately starts mocking us for living in New Jersey. Then he mentioned about how he used to live in Tri-state area and how he left because he was sick of "Jersey Trash" and cockroaches.
To mock us even further he hung up the American flag in our room. Please try to be kind to future costumers, you are running a business! We paid him our hard earned money so that is he can insult us. Why? We decided to deal with it, and stay since cancelation policy is 72 hours in advance. Service in the hostel was very poor. Bathrooms were not thoroughly cleaned, and small bathroom had mosquitoes. Breakfast area had bunch of condiments that should have been refrigerated, yet were left out in open.
This a health hazard. There was big bowl of milk that started to coagulate probably gone rancid. None of us dared to eat anything from the pantry other than bananas.
He also attempted to play head games. One of my friends that stayed with us separately was having an issue since our rooms weren't ready by 6 o'clock. Hence why he "offered" my friend to stay for 2 extra nights for free. Then he changed his mind the last day of our stay charged us for those two extra days. This was preposterous thankfully we didn't allow this "host" to ruin our vacation, and our perception of the beautiful city of Montreal. Where is the customer service? Where are the chops ?
