I purchased an extended warranty with these jokers that was basically bumper to bumper costing over $4,000 dollars. A part in the motor of my 2011 Porsche Panamera failed which resulted in damage to the motor ultimately requiring a new motor for $17,500!
Whew, glad I got that warranty from Old Republic Insurance AKA Equi-Pro1, right. Wrong.
They flat out denied the claim saying the part has bolts so it's not covered. Hello genius, they all have bolts! So basically you're selling something that is worth nothing and/or that you believe you'll never have to pay a claim on; and this is legal how? It isn't, it's called bad faith. This was not a mounting bolt or anything that I or anyone could have done anything about, the part, a camshaft adjuster, because it has bolts in its assembly they are saying isn't covered. The adjuster, Mark at Old Republic Insurance, said they would "entertain coverage" if the part didn't have bolts, which I am sure was rubber stamped by their legal department due to the size of the claim.
Talk about ridiculous! This is a blatant and gross case of bad faith and an attempt to try to side step the warranty and their obligation to pay the claim. Thanks a lot Old Republic Insurance, AKA Old Republic Insured Automotive Services Inc, AKA Equi-Pro1.
Within the warranty under the engine it is specifically states that:
"All internally Lubricated Parts contained within the Engine..." are covered. This should be illegal. If you have an Extended Warranty from Old Republic Insurance, cancel it immediately and go with another company who doesn't attempt to cheat their clients.
Even if your Extended Auto Warranty isn't from Old Republic Insurance, Old Republic Insured Automotive Services or Equi-Pro1, find out who the underwriter is. If it is Old Republic Insurance under any alias, affiliate or "partner" name, cancel it immediately.
If you are going to purchase an Extended Auto Warranty from Old Republic Insurance or anyone they underwrite, don't waste your money, time and effort because if you do have a claim, you're going to have to fight them for it.
This is in my opinion, obviously a part of their strategy, they know you'll have to go to web sites like these, State Boards of Insurnace, the Better Business Bureau, Consumer Affairs and any other public outlet to file complaints which will likely go unanswered by them and you'll end up spending on legal counsel, waiting, etc and they'll hope you give up and go away.
Not this guy and hopefully not you! If you've had a similar experience with Old Republic Insurance I am starting a web app at boycottoldrepublic.com to compile a list of complaints and seek justice for everyone they have put through this. Hopefully we can exterminate one of which I am sure there are many unscrupulous ripoff artists!
Again, if you are going to buy an Extended Auto Warranty from Old Republic Insurance, Old Republic Insured Automotive Services, Equi-Pro1 or any other name with there is any affiliation or other in the payment of claims by Old Republic Insurance, run away, cancel your policy and get your money back. They won't pay!
