Old Dominion Moving Services Reviews

What a mess Old Dominion Caused us and now they want no part of a claim they told us they would take care of for us! We lost our brand new 65" T.V. that we just paid off, our small kitchen set, our bedroom headboard and end table and one of our newer recliners, some glass lamps and some odds and ends on our cross country move from Oregon to Old Dominions Headquarter state of North Carolina. What happened to us was no fault of ours and we had the O.D. Truck professionally packed by 2 College Movers in Oregon to save space and we had every item and box bubble wrapped blanketed and taped which is on O.D.'S website on how to package and stack items.

Now here is where everything went south. They offer insurance that you have to pay extra for which covers items beyond 10 cents a pound. We declined the 400.00 insurance. But what they are not admitting to is we had truck packed at 11 linear feet as how they charge per foot.

When you sign up for service O.D. has you watch a video on their protocol, which we followed exactly. After truck is packed and secured with straps, You then lock up truck and leave key for pick up driver. He then is supposed to measure footage and then, SECURE THE LOAD WITH BOARDS PROVIDED BY OLD DOMINION AND THEN HE IS SUPPOSED TO SEAL AND TAG LOAD!!! He went inside of Hotel Apt we were moving from and told my Head Desk agent why wasn't load boarded up and sealed!!! She called us up and said driver was impolite and complained! We called dispatch immediatly the same day and asked why driver complained and dispatch said they would look into it as he was the one who was to do the final securing!...Guess what? The driver took rig back to disptched with an unsecured load! How do we know this? Because O.D. NEVER took pictures of secured load and drove off causeing everything to tip over and break some of our things! Dispatch said they would take care of anything.

When rig got to the North Carolina destination. We had to hire movers to take our stuff out of The rig and move it to our Home! The destination driver in N.C. (Paul)opened up our truck and he immediatly turned to us before our movers even got there and said that the truck was not properly secured with the boards and he actually called his disbatch for us as he felt very bad about the driver error in Oregon! The gentleman from disbatch said to file a claim, take pictures and they would take care of it and that he was truly sorry about what happened! That was the end of August. We did everything they wanted including statements, pictures receipts! We filed a claim with (Donna Lewis) and its now November the 1st (3 months) later and (Carole Wall) from claims in N.C. has decided that it was the MOVERS FAULT! and they decided not to replace any items O.D. did! The movers weren't even there yet! How could they possibly be responsible? O.D.'S own driver saw the load before the movers even got there! We are out a brand new 65 inch t.v. a dameged new bed headboards a small kitch set, lamps and pictures of all broken items! This was not a insurance issue or we would admit to it, THIS WAS DRIVER ERROR IN NOT SECURING OUR LOAD IN OREGON!

We are heartbroken over this and Carole Wall from Claims told us to take it up with the movers who were not even tied to this as they weren't even there yet when O.D.'S driver opened up the truck for us. He even apologized to us and told us it would be taken care of! We want out items replaced. They won't refund the move for us but won't even cover our big ticket items that add up to about 2800.00 dollars! What a nightmare! At least make us whole!...WHATEVER ANYONE DOES, DO NOT HIRE OLD DOMINION MOVING SERVICES FOR YOUR MOVE! If we had done this i could understand their denial of claim, but this is truly on THE DRIVER FROM OLD DOMINION IN OREGON!....VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED HERE!...GAYLE AND JOHN B.
