I have an iPhone that I bought from my best friend that was locked to Verizon, USA. I chose this specific site, Official iPhone Unlock Ltd, from the Internet b/c they promised to unlock the IMEI of the phone, so that it can be used anywhere world-wide, with any carrier, & never have to be unlocked again after IOS7 updates. They claim this is NOT a jailbreak, & the Apple warranty on the phone is still upheld after the unlocking process.
I read the entire site word for word before placing the unlock order & giving them my credit card info. I also researched their website for legitimacy, but later discovered that most of their reviews are fake. Nonetheless, I tried to write a review, but it was removed, due to violating guidelines, which were minor & I did correct/edit through their review site representatives, but it was never published. I complained on their Facebook page, only to have my complaint removed.
So I placed this 'unlock' order on 05/17/2014, paid 67 USD with a CC, order ID 2107511, & received confirmation from them on 05/19/2014, that the phone's IMEI was officially unlocked (though they stated the process would take apx 14 business days to complete), with included instructions on completing the unlocking process through iTunes, as a final step. However, this iTunes final step did not ever process, despite my efforts of tediously following instruction regarding it.
On 05/20/2014, I make my first of many attempts to contact customer service, which they encouraged, providing the link, but they are near impossible to acquire communication from. On 05/28/2014, I finally receive a reply from support tech, stating, "I am having a check carried out on your IMEI now for you." I DID NOT receive any word from them again until 06/09/2014, this time questioning, "which country are you in? you are aware that verizon handsets can only be used outside the US with a different network"(?) If this is the case, then this info should be made known to the public before any purchase, regardless of breaching their own claim to a "non-quibble refund policy". NOWHERE within that site is there any introduction to, mention of, nor explanation of this which they claim. There is only their promise to refund your investment if they fail to deliver as promised, which is to unlock the IMEI of your iPhone.
Support claims my phone is unlocked, & even an unaffiliated website that checks the IMEI unlock status of white-listed iPhones, likewise reports that my phone is "unlocked" & "active", but it is evident this is incorrect or incomplete when: the final unlocking process through iTunes has not & will not initialize; AND, I cannot get any carrier's SIM card to conform to the phone's capabilities, specifically Verizon, Consumer Cellular, At&t, nor H2O... plus I am also out the money I spent for these individual SIM cards that won't work. In a nutshell, I still have no phone service whatsoever, 3 months later, as my previous iPhone carrier service expired apx 45 days ago.
Their final reply (of 3 total) is time-stamped 06/16/2014, stating, "we can not refund IMEI's that have been unlocked sorry". This firm action that they're enforcing does not even apply to me, as my phone is not in the finalization stage of the unlocking process! And I could get nothing more out of them, via communication.
Just to reiterate what I discovered upon further post-investigation of this website service, once I located their 'real' consumer reviews... the biggest wide-spread complaint I found, was refusing to refund the money countless customers had paid them to unlock their phones (which they did not), while their repeated rebuttal/excuse claimed, was that their phones' IMEIs' were blacklisted, which they explain as a forfeiture in their refund policy provisions (they do not refund blacklisted IMEIs... which means these specific phones were either stolen or 'zapped' by the carrier service for instances such as non-payment, etc... so Official iPhone Unlock Ltd claims). But these violated customers all claimed they knew for certain that their phones were NOT blacklisted, just as certain as I know mine isn't/wasn't.
Not only do they owe me 67USD for not delivering their promise, but I am uncertain that my phone will ever work after they attempted to unlock it, but failed (at least I am assuming they did attempt something... but how would I know with no communication or further instruction past their lies?). I paid $500 for this phone, gently used, plus the SIM cards investment, & it may never work again. I don't know how to go about testing the phone at this point... PLEASE... is there no justice?
This report is for officialiphoneunlocks. The company claims to be able to unlock iphones. However, it's all really a setup. They charge a fee for the service which won't be done. They claim false success stories and pay individuals to write reports making them look good. When I filed a charge back through the credit card company, they email me with threats. The threats involve blacklisting my iphone, and also that they are filing a small claims in court and charging me a lot more money. If I cancel the chargeback, I will then have to pay a fee. All this ploy, and my phone is still fully operational. Do not trust this company and don't waste your time and money.
