We stayed at the Grand Flamenco Xcaret for a week in October 2008. Like many others we were invited to a breakfast and what was supposed to be a one hour presentation regarding the Occidental Allegro's Vacation Club. We were subjected to a high-pressure, coercive sales pitch lasting well over six hours.
During the presentation we were told that the plan we were purchasing was actually a transfer from another owner, so we were therefore not eligible to the five day cancellation clause. We ended up signing up, but almost immediately we felt that it was a bad move. We spent the rest of the day looking through the documents trying to understand what we bought.
The next day we returned to try to cancel the contract. We were told that no one was available to help us, but if we returned after five that day we could speak to someone. We returned before five. We were left waiting over an hour before we we met with the manager (I don't recall her name). She told us that we were not eligible for the cancellation.
Two of our seven days of vacation were wasted with Allegro and their sales. What was supposed to be a celebration for the impending birth of our first child was ruined.
Unlike others we have been unable to extricate from underneath this illegal and questionable contract.
