I worked as a Business Manager at OC Welch Ford Lincoln in 2014. I was hired with a guarteed salary for the first 5 months of empoyment. I accepted the offer of empolyement with concern, do to Mr. Welch's reputation in the community. However, I did start work Septmeber 23, 2014, in an effort to help turn around moral of empoyees and add productivity to the dealership and to bring it to a more competetive state.
My efforts were ignored and my requests for him to stop imtemidating his sales staff and empolyee's. I developed a training program and had success in my time within the company. Mr. Welch, still refused to listen to reason and still intimidated his employee's and had horrible turnover with the average employee retention less than 30 days. It became evident to me after seeing employees not recive their compensation as agreed and limited disclosure to staff and customers that this was not the culture for me. These concerns have been nrought to OC Welchs attention for years, his reputation and his disordain for people have lead even his own brother to go to work for J. C. Lewis Ford in Savannah, GA. He has No HUman Resources present and makes claims to his employees of medical benefits being available, without diclosing that thise benefits for a family are over $2100.00 per month. They do not begin until after 90 daysof emplyement.
He makes claims to help victimsa dn their familes with reward money in just an obvious way to obtain press time as he does not give back to the community or is he involved in any efforts. He has several EEOC complaints as well as suits against him in Jasper County.
When I went to receive my last pay check it was $5100.00 short. He refused to pay good on his commitement using the excuse that he felt like I did not deliver on fixing his dealership in my 30 plus days of employment. As of this date, my offers for my pay have been ignored I have sent certified letters and email. I join the process of people to have to take him to court. Just realize if you want to do business with this man the true calibre of him as a person. I can only say that there is a true reason why he is in the fix he is in and why his brother and so many others have decided to exit him and his code of conduct with the public and his greatest customers his employees.
