I purchased the NuvoH2O water softener system for both my home and my business (a bed & breakfast) at the same time.
I purchased the home system for my house and the manor system for my bed & breakfast. I'm on a well and I provided the salesperson with the results on my water test. I was assured that the NuvoH20 system would work really well, given my water conditions.
The performance of the system was totally over-rated. My water is still very hard with lots of mineral build-up in sinks, toilets, dishwashers, bath tubs, etc. I have to use muriatic acid and Lime-away to clean virtually all surfaces that come into contact with water. I have to use a dishwasher detergent that is for hard water. PLUS an additional dishwasher additive to keep the dishes from being gritty after being washed in the dishwasher but even with these additives, the dishes often doesn’t feel and look clean.
As part of my purchase, they provided me with water flow meters for both of my systems. This was to track the amount of water usage, so that I would know when to change the cartridges. Both flow meters broke and stopped functioning within the 1st 12 months of use. Given that both of the flow meters broke, I asked how I would know when to change the cartridges. I was told to change them when the water got hard. Isn't the purpose of having a softener to avoid having hard water?
The cartridges do not last nearly as long as what they represented. I was told that the home system cartridge would treat about 35,000 gallons and the manor system would treat about 55,000 gallons. Neither of my cartridges lasted this long (when the flow meters were working). While there is very little water softener benefit from their system, it is marginally better than not having any water softener at all. So I continue to purchase replacement cartridges but each time that I do, it just sickens me to think about how hard I worked to save the money to buy this system and then to have such awful performance…it is an terrible feeling. I feel like a fool for believing what they were telling me.
They totally under-estimated the amount of time that it would take for a plumber to do the install or in my case TWO installs. I used a licensed plumber (not a "handyman") and they were here for about 10 hours to do both installs. So I was way over budget for the cost of the install. It was about $1,500 to install both systems. They told me that I should budget about $350 per system or $700. They were off by more than 100%.
When I went to NuvoH20 and told them that I was unhappy with the performance of both of the systems, they DID offer to take the systems back but I would have to pay AGAIN to have the systems de-installed AND I would have to pay the return shipping AND they were unwilling to provide any sort of compensation for the huge installation cost that I incurred up front. I think that they should have paid the return shipping AND the cost of the de-install, given that the system was totally mis-represented when they were selling me the units. After they were installed, NuvoH2O suddenly had all sorts of reasons as to why the systems weren't working. Why didn't they share any of the system limitations with me when I was looking to purchase the units?
When I posted my experience with their product and their customer service on their Facebook page, they removed my post and also banned me from being able to post any future comments, even though my comments were totally factual.
Given that I only had a set amount of funds to spend for the purchase and install of water softener systems, I was out of money after having purchased these units. They are still in my home and my business but if I had the money to purchase replacement water softener systems, I would do so immediately. I do not recommend this product or this company.
