On March 26, 2015, after learning that my sister passed away, I was on my way to her home. My cousin was in the car also. When I reached the toll area, there were no lanes available to deposit the toll. Only EZPass lanes. Other cars were going too fast to safely go to a lane all the way over to my right. However, the very next toll plaza, I explained to the gentleman what happened. I paid the toll, he took a picture of my car and tag, and gave me a receipt. He said that he would report this. I really do believe that he did. I think someone else failed to process this. Or a scary thought..... maybe it is a rip-off. They sent a letter stating that I did not provide enough proof to dismiss my violation. A dispute was filed and a copy of the receipt had been sent I am still grieving the loss of my sister and their threats of having my registration suspended is just plain harassment and cruelty.
I received a New Jersey Turnpike Authority "First Notice of Enforcement Action" (Advisory and Payment Request) on 9/15/2014 for an alledged toll violation on 8/4/2014. As an out of state (Virginia) resident I never have had an EZPass account I paid the attendant the $1.50 on the day in queston, but still was photographed as a violater. I called the authority's office on 9/15 at (973) 368-1425 and explained my consternation in receibing an invoice for a total of $51.50. I was told if I paid the $1.50 fee, again, their offices would waive the $50 fine. I charged the payment of $1.50 to a credit card and received a reference number and was told to disregard the violation and its corresponding Enforcement Action by the billing clerk. This issue is a complete waste of NJ tax payer's money to have clerks go through this process when the electronic sensors are aimed at lanes with attendant to take the tolls being given by motorist, besides my paying an extra $1.50 - (which I suppose is the operating cost to delete the Official Notice of Enforcement Action from their NJ Turnpike state computer servers).
I received the same as the guy above. Exactly the same day as well. Is this some kind of joke? I also paid the $1.50 - for a fact! And, I still get this violation? Were they targeting out-of-staters?? I don't have an EZ Pass account either and paid an attendant. To the person above, what toll plaza did they say you went through? Which lane?
