hats off to the nipsco utility company for northern indiana for finding yet another way to rip people off and steal their money. i am still trying to understand how they can do this and get away with it. they say america is the land of the free. well, i'm here to tell ya, it is the land of being ripped-off anyway possible.
nipsco installed the new 'smart meters' at my home between Dec. 2014 & Jan. 2015. i believe they call them 'smart meters' as they are allowing nipsco to way over charge their customers. from my december bill to my march bill; my costs go as so:
december $200, January $311, february $403, march $299. now here is my issue. it was far colder last winter with all of the snow we had, yet right after the new meters were installed, my monthly bills increased by $100 a month this year. here's the confusing part. in my area, for the last 3 weeks we have had at least 2 days a week where the temperature hit below zero, yet my latest bill has dropped by $100. when i took up this issue with nipsco. the rep gave me every excuse in the book as to why my bill rose $100 a month. she stated that christmas lights and extra use of the electric will make my bill go higher. when i informed her that we were out of town on vacation for 2 weeks when my bill went from 300 to 400 and i didn't put up any christmas lights this year. she said, hmmm.
if i refuse to pay, my utilities will get disconnected. so, someone please inform me what we can do to stop the over charging and abuse of a utility company. whatever it takes, i will do it. i think too many things are being abused by the use of the "tap of a key on a computer." these smart meters have to go. all they are doing is making nipsco employees lazier, and we customers are paying the price.
I live single family house with split gas and electric bills, and my bill was over 500 dollars seven month, when this house was not split the bill would have been one thousand dollars or more, please.
