I bought a used 2013 Ford Focus from Nick Mayer in February of 2014. Two days later there was a severe snowstorm and I could not even get out of my condo parking lot because the car had not traction. I had the car towed back to Nick Mayer. The sales manager, Gus, and salesman, Scott, played "dumb" to what the problem was. I later discovered on my own the car had "summer only" tires on it.
I also discovered all the used cars had window stickers listing the features and equipment, but the car I bought had the sticker taken off, folded up, and tucked away in the glove compartment; I found it there several days later. Gus and Scott continued to play "dumb" acting as if they had no idea the car had summer only tires. Can you believe it? They had the car for three months -- in the winter in Ohio -- and nobody realized it had "summer only" tires? Talk about insulting my intelligence.
The worst part is, if I had been able to get out of my parking lot the morning of the storm, I would have probably ended up in a ditch, or worse, in a bad accident. This dealership, rather than let me know the car had summer tires, literally put me in harm's way -- just to unload a car in February, with "summer only" tires, and not tell me. The dealership reluctantly agreed to split the cost of new all-weather tires with me.
I ended up paying more than I bargained for, lost time from work, and put up with much worry and aggravation before this transaction was done. I am writing this review 5 months after buying a car from Nick Mayer because I am still very bothered by the fact this dealership was more concerned with sellingg a car than my safety. Yet they show FIVE STARS on their site and list "recommended reviews." I bet this review does not make their "recommended list." I like the car and would have still bought it had they been honest up front about the tires and not let me walk out the door with my safety in jeopardy. Please keep your eyes wide open when dealing with Gus, Scott, and this dealership.
