I was contacted via phone by NG&G Facility Services International.
They needed my handyman services to do work at a local retail store.
I was told that I did not have to fill out a vendor packet to do the
work at the store, only a W-9 . They then sent me the work orders
the job discussed, and then many other work orders for my area.
However, they did not send me any Vendor Packet or even a W-9
form to fill out. It was only after I withdrew did they bother to send
a Vendor's packet and W-9 form a week after numerous request
made by myself.
The scam is simply this, if I would have completed
all the work orders without filling out a complete vendor's packet, I
WOULD NOT HAVE RECEIVED PAYMENT FOR ANY OF MY SERVICES.
It would have been my own fault for being to naive and to gung ho to
get work as many other handymen are looking for work.
The fact is that NG&G flooded me with work orders hoping that I would complete them and then they would have requested a vendors packet that I would have most likely been told that I was supposed to fill out the vendor packet before doing the work. The work orders even stated that NG&G must be paid first before any handyman gets paid for work performed.
The fact that I had to ask for the vendor's packet and the w-9 and that they claimed to have already sent them to me three times. (Which never happened) Shows me that they thought they were dealing with someone that did not know the rules of engagement.
All I can say is make sure you get a vendor's packet and w-9 and they approve your packet before you do any work for them. Any other way and you will end up working for free and we all know you don't want that. Hope this helps someone avoid frustration.
