After going through the medical records of a couple of dogs I inherited from an elderly client of Newton Vet Hospital, I found she had been taken advantage of.
The records repetively repeat " Owner unable to drive", "Owner does not have transportation" "Owner unable to come in" "Owner cannot make follow up appointment" "Difficulty understanding" "Trouble understanding"
Yet, Newton Vet charged the owner multiple times for pre-paid fecal & urine tests.
This is taking advantage of the elderly. NO veterinary professional can expect an elderly woman to collect these samples at her home, on her own, from obese male DASCHUNDS no less (they drag on the ground!) and expect her to bring it back in their claimed time period when she can barely get into the facilty for a re-check or sick visit.
There were call backs about blood results but no reminder to drop off the samples? That would have been courtious.
I am also very sure, she would have never approved of such a thing, as needing to come back- she declined everything offered to her if it was not what she went into the facilty wanting. Also documented.
Why weren't the samples collected in-house? It was very well documented the animals did not come in very often.
